The Buoy Haus Beach Resort is one of those hidden treasures you'd almost like to keep all to yourself. This adults-only escape is great for couples and solo travelers. It provides privacy, tranquility, and easy access to the beach.
When you arrive at the resort, you'll feel a calm atmosphere and a personal touch. No crowds, noise, or other distractions. Only ocean breezes on your toes and soft sand underneath. We'll look closer at Buoy Haus Beach Resort in this review. From the rooms to the facilities and the experience itself, it has guests returning.
In the spring of 2023, this property underwent a complete redesign and reopened as part of the Autograph Collection. This was five and a half years after hurricanes Irma and Maria hit hard. They damaged both this resort and its sister property, the Westin, a high-rise with nearly 400 rooms. This was the second time in five years that a major hurricane had hit the island.
Buoy Haus Beach Resort is now part of Marriott's Autograph Collection. This collection features boutique hotels with unique, independent brands. It, as well as the Westin hotel, is currently managed by Aimbridge Hospitality. They are owned by the Fortress Investment Group, based in New York.
Morningstar Buoy Haus Beach Resort at Frenchman's Reef, Autograph Collection is in St. Thomas. The address is 2 Estate Bakkeroe, St Thomas 00802, US Virgin Islands. The resort is also 15 minutes from Cyril E. King Airport. This makes arrivals easy and hassle-free. Moreover, St. Thomas, being part of the U.S. Virgin Islands, means that U.S. visitors do not need a passport. The property is a 20-minute drive from St. Thomas's International Airport. The hotel also offers access to the Charlotte Amalie Overlook,
Here, employees are friendly. Buoy Haus guests also get the feeling that the staff is genuinely glad to have them. The hotel management has gone out of its way to train and promote local talent. Therefore, the staff is knowledgeable about the area and can help you choose the best local attractions.
The hotel's service also extends beyond its walls. It has teamed up with RED Hospitality and Leisure to offer a program focused on water-based activities. This includes a fleet of eight boats for excursions and programs. This fleet is led by the 65-foot sailing catamaran, Flying Frenchman. It also makes many trips daily for beach and snorkeling adventures.
At either end of the beaches, staff are available to provide towels, lounges, snorkeling gear, and small Hobie Cat sailing boats. They can also offer kayaks, SUP boards, and stand-up paddleboards. Moreover, you can reserve and pay for a shaded cabana by the pool, or you can set yourself up under an umbrella without making reservations.
Westin has three additional pools, including one for adults only with its own swim-up bar. You will also love the tide pool. Additionally, the hotel offers pickleball and a larger fitness center than Buoy Haus's. The hotel can also arrange zip-lining and aerial tram rides. Plus, it offers trips to town for museums, shopping, meals, and more activities.
There are 94 guest rooms and suites. Warm elements like honeyed wooden tones, bronze wall accents, woven rugs, and a wall in a lighter clay hue are combined with cool elements.
Each room also features a king-sized bed and a sofa that pulls out to a queen. You'll also find a desk and console area for work or play. Plus, there's a round table with a stone top and a woven-front armoire for storing your luggage.
The large sliding glass doors stand out. They lead to private balconies or patios that feature tables and chairs. You can also relax in the swinging basket chairs. Half of the rooms feature water views. The rest offer garden views, showcasing palm trees and vibrant pink bougainvillea.
There are also several connecting rooms in one of this hotel's buildings. They can be reached via adjacent balconies instead of interior doors. The Sea You Later Suite, which features two bedrooms with king-sized beds and a spacious living room in each, is the only true suite.
The Salt Shack is a place that makes you want to drink local beer, rum daiquiris for days, and enjoy fish tacos. They also serve other tropical dishes, like mahi mahi, which are gently grilled and served with soft tortillas. The three-meal-a-day waterside restaurant also serves the chaise by the pool and the beach. The pool has its very own swim-up bar so that you can enjoy summer ales from St. John Brewers or daiquiris spiked up with Botany Bay Rum made in St. Thomas.
Moreover, the hotel joined forces with a local restaurant group to offer fine dining in the lobby. The Peruvian Tiradito, sashimi-style yellowtail, and crispy rice cake are among the highlights. Buoy Haus customers can also dine at Westin restaurants. Shorebird, which offers a daily breakfast buffet and Sunday brunch, is the best. Isla Blue also serves fresh seafood.
Buoy Haus Beach Resort doesn't have a spa. However, you can book services at the Heavenly Spa at the Westin. This spa has thirteen rooms and over 10,000 square feet. They offer massages, facials, body treatments, and salon services.
Buoy Haus also offers an infinity pool and a 24-hour fitness center so that guests can maintain their daily wellness regimens. The resort encourages a well-balanced approach without forcing a strict wellness concept.
Buoy Haus Beach Resort, St. Thomas Autograph Collection, shows that luxury does not have to be overdone or loud. This quiet resort is perfect for travelers who prefer to relax and unplug. Sipping coffee on a quiet evening is soothing.
Watching the sun set alongside the moon is beautiful. Enjoying a nearly empty beach brings peace. Each moment offers a personal and relaxing experience. This property provides a cozy, boutique experience. It highlights comfort, privacy, and a close connection to the ocean.
