Proximity does not make the whole park a short outing: roads, traffic and the distance between sights can turn a visit into a full day. A planned tour or a clear choice of park stops makes better use of the time. Returning to the resort's restaurants, pools and spa can be welcome after an early start and many hours outside.
Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is approximately 50 miles from Montage Big Sky. That makes the resort accessible as a single Montana base, though road conditions and transfers deserve attention in winter. Downtown Big Sky is also a drive, not an extension of the hotel grounds.
