Rooms and suites are spacious and designed for easy resort living. Koa-inspired furnishings and Hawaiian art give the interiors a local reference, while view categories distinguish mountain-side and garden settings from ocean outlooks. Guest rooms measure 600 square feet, plus a lanai, with a king bed or two queens. The same room size can therefore deliver a different experience outside the windows. Ocean-View and Deluxe Ocean-View rooms should be chosen as specific categories, rather than assuming every room faces the water.

For more separation, the Ocean-View Prime Executive Suite has approximately 840 square feet and a parlor apart from the bedroom. Larger suites extend the options for shared stays. The Maile Presidential Three-Bedroom Suite measures 4,000 square feet, with a lanai along the north wing. Lokelani has three bedrooms, extensive furnished outdoor space, and a private garden. These are suites within the resort, not a separate collection of detached villa estates.

The Club Floor has 26 accommodations served by its own concierge team and a private lounge. Its ocean-facing lanai adds somewhere to sit outside the room, while the dedicated team handles restaurant reservations and activity planning. This is a distinct accommodation choice within the hotel, not a separate property. For a family sharing several rooms, the lounge provides a common meeting place before heading to the beach or out for dinner.

Wailea Beach is public, despite the resort's direct access and beach attendants who arrange chairs and umbrellas. The beachwalk makes it easy to stay beside the coast without spending the whole day in the water. Swimming and snorkeling depend on ocean conditions and individual ability; check current warnings before entering. Hotel beach service should not be mistaken for lifeguard supervision. The distinction matters on a coastline where the water can change, even when the sand looks inviting.

The three saltwater pools serve different purposes. Royal palms surround the Fountain Pool, the central place to swim with an ocean view. The Waterfall Pool is designed for children, with a slide built into a rock feature. Above them, the Adult Pool has an infinity edge, underwater music, a swim-up bar, and views toward Lanai and the West Maui Mountains. Entry to the entire Adult Pool area is restricted to guests 21 and older. Cabanas and hillside sanctuaries add shaded places to settle, though their locations and reservation arrangements differ.

Ferraro's Restaurant & Bar brings coastal Italian cooking to an open-air setting beside the ocean. The menu includes crudos made with Hawaiian seafood, alongside antipasti and pasta. Lunch, an afternoon drink, and dinner each make use of the waterfront tables. It is a restaurant where the outdoor position is as much a draw as the cooking.

At Spago, Wolfgang Puck's Hawaiian and California influences meet in a dinner restaurant with broad ocean views. Seasonal ingredients guide the cooking. KOMO takes a separate direction, with sushi anchoring its Japanese menu. Table and sushi-bar seating offer different ways to experience the meal, whether you prefer to watch the preparation or gather with companions over dinner.

DUO Steak and Seafood is the open-air address for breakfast and dinner. Mornings offer both buffet and a la carte choices; dinner centers on steaks and local seafood, with a children's menu available. Between restaurant meals, Beachwalk Café provides food to take away near the sand, while Pantry by Madhappy serves coffee, matcha, and grab-and-go fare. The Lobby Lounge adds cocktails and small plates, with hula, torch lighting, and live music forming part of the evening atmosphere.

Kai Holo Spa combines massage, facials, and Hawaiian-inspired treatments with a shared aquathermal area. The water and thermal circuit includes warm vitality pools, cold plunges, a hot tub, steam, an infrared sauna, a sanarium, and sensory showers. Guests must be at least 18 to use the spa facilities, and swimwear is required in the mixed-gender thermal area. The emphasis here is on the experience of heat, water, and a treatment appointment, with enough variety to spend time beyond the treatment room itself.

The open-air fitness facility contains cardio equipment, weights, and Pilates reformers, with 24-hour access for resort guests. Private trainers can work with guests in the gym or on the beach, and yoga instruction is also available. This gives an exercise routine some flexibility around restaurant plans and excursions. A guided session can stay on land, while stand-up paddling offers another option when sea conditions allow.

Kids For All Seasons is a staffed recreation program for children ages five to 12, based on the lobby level. Games, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, and swimming appear in its changing program. Parents register their children and arrange authorized sign-in and pickup, rather than treating the space as an unsupervised playroom. Beyond the club, families can join an outrigger canoe paddle with the beach team and hear Hawaiian cultural stories along the way. Baby baths, highchairs, and bottle warmers can be requested for younger guests.

Golf takes place nearby at Wailea Golf Club, rather than on a course within the Four Seasons grounds. Its Blue, Gold, and Emerald courses provide three choices, with lessons, tee times, and transportation arranged through the resort. Gold uses lava rock, elevation changes, and strategically placed hazards in Robert Trent Jones II's design. Emerald offers a gentler layout with several tee positions. A round can therefore be tailored to the players sharing the trip, without treating all three courses as interchangeable.

Kahului Airport, OGG, is about 17 miles from the resort. Four Seasons estimates a 25- to 30-minute drive, subject to traffic, and can arrange a car transfer. The Shops at Wailea are less than a mile away, keeping local shopping and restaurants close. The concierge can also arrange a Road to Hana tour or a Haleakala sunrise outing. These are excursions to plan around the journey, not quick diversions from the beach. Leaving some days open for Wailea gives the trip a balance between exploring Maui and enjoying its southern coast.

Why we love this hotel

Why we love this hotel

Four Seasons Maui has a prime Wailea beachfront setting. The resort feels open, sunny and easy from the first morning.

Ferraro's is the dinner to book near the water. Italian cooking and Maui sunsets do the heavy lifting.

The three saltwater pools give the resort its rhythm. Families, couples and quiet pool days each have space.
