The Ritz opened on October 2, 1910, inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia. Architect Rafael de La-Hoz led its restoration, with interiors by the Parisian studio Gilles & Boissier. The hotel reopened as Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid on April 15, 2021, following three years of work. One particularly visible change was the return of the glass dome above the former winter garden. Closed over in the 1940s, it once again brings daylight into Palm Court. This central space retains a role in everyday hotel life, with breakfast, afternoon tea and meals served beneath the canopy.

Superior Rooms measure 30 square meters and accommodate up to two guests, facing the inner courtyard. Dark oak floors accompany bathrooms finished in white Dolomite and Emperador marble. Accessible versions include a roll-in shower with a chair and handrails beside the toilet. These are category-specific features, so the precise adapted room should be confirmed when reserving.

Mandarin Rooms face Plaza de la Lealtad and measure 48 square meters, also with a maximum of two guests. A seating area and work desk share the room with the bed; some rooms in this category have a four-poster canopy bed. The bathroom pairs a freestanding bathtub with twin washbasins, white Dolomite paneling and Emperador marble flooring.

The 68-square-meter Park Suite looks onto Plaza de la Lealtad. Its bedroom and separate living room accommodate up to three guests, and the bathroom has a freestanding bathtub and double vanity. At the same size and maximum occupancy, the Prado Suite instead faces the museum. It can have a king bed or twin beds and includes a separate living room, a bathtub and a rain shower.

The Two Bedroom Family Suite brings two bedrooms and a separate living room into an 82-square-meter courtyard-facing layout. Maximum occupancy is six guests, with an additional bed available on request. There are two bathrooms: one has a freestanding bathtub and shower, while the second has a walk-in shower. Confirm the bedding arrangement for the ages and number of children traveling.

The Turret Suite occupies one of the building's original 1910 turrets. Measuring 78 square meters for up to three guests, it has a circular salon with a curved sofa and an integrated bar, plus a dining table for four. In the bedroom, the king bed has a Spanish leather headboard, set against light oak floors and decorative wall and ceiling motifs. The bathroom contains a freestanding soaking tub, an overhead rain shower and a double vanity. Views vary between the garden, square and museum.

On the top floor, the Two Bedroom Ritz Suite occupies a turret and measures 107 square meters. It accommodates up to four guests and has two terraces with views toward the Prado Museum and Neptuno Square. The Two Bedroom Royal Suite measures 228 square meters, with a maximum of five guests. Its layout includes a kitchen, a steam room and a dining area seating eight, with views of the Ritz garden and the Prado.

The 115-square-meter Presidential Suite has a circular bedroom, along with living and dining space and a steam room. It accommodates up to three guests and looks toward the hotel garden and Prado Museum.

Deessa holds two Michelin stars and is led by Quique Dacosta. Set in the Alfonso XIII dining room, it also has a terrace facing the Ritz garden. The Historical and Contemporary tasting menus present two strands of the chef's cooking, while the shorter Chronos menu is available on selected weekdays. The restaurant currently serves lunch and dinner from Wednesday through Saturday. Check the dates when reserving, since its calendar includes seasonal closures.

Palm Court is the all-day dining room beneath the restored glass canopy. Breakfast includes vegan options, and a children's menu is available. At lunch and dinner, Dacosta's cooking revisits dishes associated with the Ritz. Afternoon tea is also interpreted by the chef, with seatings at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

El Jardín del Ritz moves dining into the hotel's garden, serving tapas alongside cocktails and nonalcoholic mixed drinks. It operates throughout the year when weather permits and has a children's menu. Pictura is the evening cocktail bar, with a mural made by Spanish artisans, a selection of spirits and wines, and a terrace. The Champagne Bar also remains among the hotel's named venues; current opening arrangements should be checked directly.

Next to Deessa, the Countess Maslov room seats ten for private dining. Larger occasions can use the Royal Ballroom, where tall windows face the Prado Museum and parquet floors sit beneath a decorated ceiling. The restored Salon Felipe IV accommodates both banquet and cocktail arrangements. Quique Dacosta also creates event menus, with dietary requirements and other requests discussed in advance with the events team.

The Beauty Concept runs the hotel's wellness area, which includes private treatment rooms and a couples' suite. Facilities comprise a heated indoor swimming pool, a vitality pool, a steam room and sensation showers. Treatments are also available to nonresident guests subject to availability, so advance appointments are advisable. The spa menu includes a 30-minute Anne Semonin Radiance Express facial, as well as private yoga and mat Pilates sessions. Guided running and sunrise yoga in Retiro Park take some activities outdoors.

The indoor swimming pool is 14 meters long, surrounded by white marble with gray veining, with a constellation-style ceiling and Preciosa chandeliers overhead. The pool's published hours are 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; the Technogym-equipped fitness room is open 24 hours. The general spa and wellness access policy is for guests aged 18 and over. Selected treatments for younger guests require advance written parental consent and a parent or guardian present, including the Little Stars selection for ages six to sixteen. Children's pool arrangements should be confirmed separately.

The hotel estimates the drive from Madrid's airport at about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. A chauffeured transfer can be arranged in advance, and valet parking carries a charge.
