On the roof, a 60-foot pool looks toward the Los Angeles and Century City skyline. Yellow-and-white stripes mark ten private cabanas around the terrace: eight standard cabanas for up to four guests and two deluxe cabanas for up to six. They can be rented by hotel guests, with dining available at the cabana. Amenities include 50-inch televisions, with Bluetooth sound systems available on request.

The Roof Garden restaurant sits on the fifth floor, serving California cooking beneath matching striped umbrellas. Breakfast includes avocado toast and the Roof Garden Frittata; the wider menu ranges from fresh salads and tacos to a charred lobster roll. Local, seasonal produce shapes the cooking. The restaurant opens daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., with breakfast and all-day menus as well as separate drinks and dessert selections. Its casual dress code suits the outdoor setting, whether you have come up for breakfast or reserved a table later in the day.

Hirsch Bedner Associates' interiors follow the hotel's French residential style. Soft pink, powder blue and muted green appear in the furnishings, alongside desks and French upholstery. Rose Aurora marble vanities and drapery reproducing the original patterns keep a connection to the hotel's early interiors. Porcelain vases, gold-framed mirrors and soft metallic sconces add detail.

Rooms start at 480 square feet, and marble bathrooms have separate baths and showers. In a Deluxe Room, French doors bring in daylight, with an outlook over the gardens, fountain or Beverly Hills skyline. High ceilings and an oversized desk are part of the layout, and the bed choice is a king or double beds. The neutral base is paired with garden-inspired fabrics. Views vary by room, so a garden outlook is worth specifying when that is part of the appeal.

A Deluxe Suite adds a living room with a dining table, while the bedroom has its own sitting area. The en-suite marble bathroom includes an oversized shower; a separate powder room opens from the foyer. Some of these suites have a balcony or patio. Connecting rooms are also an option for families who need another bedroom. The outdoor space and connecting arrangement should be agreed for the particular suite, since neither is identical across the category.

The Grand Villa Suite with Kitchen and Dining Room occupies the second floor of a freestanding villa. Its bedroom and living area are separate, with a kitchen and a dining room seating six beneath crystal chandeliers. It is an appealing layout for meals at home during a longer stay, with the hotel's gardens around the villa buildings.

For a more formal setting, The Peninsula Suite has a mahogany dining table seating ten. Hand-painted Chinoiserie murals depict birds, flowers and foliage, bringing another reference to the gardens into the dining room. The suite's East-meets-West design combines these painted details with views over the city and hills beyond.

On the ground floor, The Belvedere is a European brasserie with contemporary art around the dining room. Executive chef Luis Cuadra oversees the hotel's kitchens, including this restaurant and The Roof Garden. The Belvedere serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with brunch among its menus. The setting calls for smart-casual dress. Art is a visible part of the room, giving a meal here a different backdrop from the umbrellas and skyline upstairs. The two restaurants also have distinct menus: European brasserie cooking here and produce-led California dishes on the roof.

The restaurant's art collection includes a commission created specifically for the hotel by French painter Fabienne Verdier. Her nine-panel work was conceived to span both sides of the entrance. The collection also brings together Yayoi Kusama's acrylic-on-canvas Dots Obsession, Sean Scully's textured Landline Bruke and Alex Katz's Anniversary. In the private dining rooms, works include three paintings from Josef Albers' Homage to the Square series and watercolors by Nancy Graves.

Afternoon Tea takes place in The Living Room with live harp accompaniment, while piano music accompanies the evening. This is one of the hotel's longstanding traditions, set within its residential interiors. Room service is available around the clock for meals upstairs.

The Club Bar shifts to dark California birch paneling, deep leather chairs and a wide fireplace. Its drinks selection includes single-malt whiskies, Scotch, tequila and cognac, alongside wines by the glass. The woodwork and fireside seating give it a more intimate feel than the open rooftop.

The Peninsula Spa is on the fifth floor, with a private nail suite, a spa cabana and a serenity lounge overlooking the city. Men's and women's facilities include saunas, aromatherapy steam rooms and relaxation lounges. Spa guests must be 18 or older. Treatments include deep-tissue and hot-stone massages, with Asian and Ayurvedic influences.

Skincare treatments use products from Biologique Recherche and Medical Beauty Research. Massages, manicures and facials can also be arranged in your room, with a 20% surcharge for these services. Both male and female therapists are available, and you can specify a preference when making an appointment. The spa opens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The fitness center is open 24 hours. Equipment includes Woodway treadmills, Peloton bikes and Life Fitness cycles and elliptical trainers, as well as strength and weight-training equipment. An in-room workout kit can be requested, with guided sessions available through the hotel's Wellness Portal.

The address is 9882 South Santa Monica Boulevard. For arrivals through Los Angeles International Airport, the hotel's airport concierge can meet domestic passengers at baggage claim and escort them to their hotel car. Departure assistance begins curbside. Airport travel time depends on Los Angeles traffic, so allow room in your schedule for the journey.
