Hotel Effie Sandestin

Hotel Effie Sandestin combines a social rooftop with access to golf, beaches and boating. Within Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, this Autograph Collection hotel has 250 rooms and suites and a bay-side address near the Village of Baytowne Wharf. The white sands of the Emerald Coast are reached by resort transport, not by stepping out of a beachfront room. Upstairs, a rooftop pool and lounge look across Sandestin toward Choctawhatchee Bay.

The Southern character has a personal reference point. A portrait of the hotel's namesake, Effie Burns, and a replica of her rocking chair are part of the interiors. These domestic touches sit alongside the contemporary coastal design. The hotel feels modern and social, with restaurants and bars that draw guests out of their rooms and into the shared spaces.

Beach access is part of the broader Sandestin experience rather than a step-out-the-door beach layout. The hotel arranges a beach shuttle, and beach chairs can be reserved for a charge. Towels are collected at the front desk before departure. Beyond the sand, Baytowne Marina is the starting point for boat charters, fishing and paddleboard or kayak outings. Beach bonfires can also be arranged, with chairs and the fire setup provided as part of that separate booking.

Ara Rooftop Pool & Lounge gives Effie its own social setting above the resort. The outdoor pool is heated, with cabanas and daybeds available to reserve around it. Views take in the village and bay, while poolside food and cocktails keep the terrace active beyond a simple afternoon swim. The menu runs to shareable plates, salads and sandwiches. Music is part of Ara's character, and the mood shifts toward a rooftop bar after sundown.

Room choice begins with bedding and outlook. Deluxe Double Queen rooms accommodate four, while Deluxe King rooms accommodate two. A private balcony belongs to the Deluxe King Balcony category; it is not a feature of every room. Bay View categories specify the water outlook, including a Double Queen Balcony option. Grand King Balcony rooms are studios with a wet bar, while Junior King Suites also have a king bed and wet bar.

For a family needing a living room away from the beds, the Executive Double Queen Suite has two queen beds in a separate bedroom. At approximately 875 square feet, it also has a private balcony, wet bar and powder room, with accommodation for up to four guests. The living room provides space for an evening indoors without everyone sitting in the bedroom.

The Presidential measures approximately 1,280 square feet, with a king bedroom, living room and hospitality kitchen. A full bank of windows faces the bay, and a private balcony extends the space outdoors. The suite itself accommodates two. An optional connecting accessible Double Queen room takes the combined arrangement to six guests, so the larger capacity depends on reserving both rooms. There is a full refrigerator and a dining area for meals indoors.

Ovide, the signature restaurant, focuses on Gulf Coast flavors and Southern cooking. Brunch stretches into the early afternoon, followed by dinner service, giving the dining room a role beyond a formal evening meal. Effie's biscuits and shrimp with grits express that regional identity without making the menu exclusively traditional. There are children's choices, too. The restaurant has an outdoor patio and private dining space, with the latter available for a gathering that needs its own setting.

The Lobby Bar, also styled TLB, serves drinks and small plates for sharing. Sweetbay Coffee is the hotel's coffee market, with coffee drinks, tea and light snacks for a less formal start. In-room dining is available as well. These venues keep the hotel convenient for meals between outings, while Ovide remains the main sit-down restaurant.

Spa Lilliana has a relaxation lounge and a treatment menu covering massages, facials and body scrubs, alongside manicures and pedicures. Hydrafacial is among the facial options. Spa access and treatments are for guests age 18 and older, an important distinction within this family-friendly resort setting. Appointments can be made in advance, and walk-ins depend on availability.

The hotel's fitness center is open around the clock, with cardio and strength equipment for an indoor workout. Outside, the resort's network of paths adds walking and cycling to the stay. These are shared Sandestin grounds, so an outing can take you well beyond the hotel building.

Golf belongs to the surrounding resort, with four courses available through Sandestin's booking arrangements. The Links follows Choctawhatchee Bay, while Raven runs through marshes, wetlands and pines. Baytowne brings water into play on more than half its holes. Burnt Pine, designed by Rees Jones, admits members and resort guests. Effie's golf concierge can arrange tee times, and the academy provides private and group lessons. Access should not be confused with an included round: course reservations and charges remain part of planning a golf stay.

Tennis has similar depth, with clay and hard courts, private lessons, hitting sessions and a player-matching service. The concierge can arrange court time or instruction, and equipment is available to rent. Evening play gives the courts a place in the day after the beach. These facilities are within the wider resort rather than a small court area attached to the hotel.

The Village of Baytowne Wharf is close enough to become part of the evening rhythm. Restaurants and shops sit alongside family attractions, including zip lines and arcade games, within the Sandestin resort. At the Adventure Zone, the zip line crosses a lagoon, with a ropes course and climbing tower nearby. The village also has a carousel, while Blast Arcade adds a laser maze to its games. These are attractions in the neighboring village, not a supervised children's program inside Effie.

The address is 1 Grand Sandestin Boulevard, inside the resort gates. Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport is approximately 28 miles away; Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is about 43 miles away. Road times vary with traffic. Airport transfers are separate arrangements, since the hotel does not operate an airport shuttle. This is distinct from the local resort transport used during the stay. Both self-parking and valet parking are available for guests arriving by car.
