Carneros Resort & Spa brings private cottages and garden living to Napa Valley, on 28 acres in the countryside of Los Carneros. The resort stands on Sonoma Highway, about five miles from downtown Napa and nine miles from Sonoma Square. Its low-rise layout gathers cottages, larger homes, restaurants and pools around outdoor spaces. A morning on your own patio can lead to a vineyard visit, lunch at Hilltop or an afternoon at the spa.

The cottages carry the feel of a wine-country farmhouse, with vaulted ceilings, French doors and indoor fireplaces. Private gardens extend the living space outdoors. The Garden Cottage has 450 square feet inside, plus a furnished patio, outdoor shower and fire pit. Its bathroom has heated slate floors and a walk-in shower.
The Premier Garden Cottage sleeps four with a king bed and queen sofa sleeper. It adds a soaking tub alongside the walk-in shower and dual vanities. In the Harvest Cottage, the outdoor tub is part of the appeal, set in a backyard with a fire pit. This category sleeps two in a Bryte Balance king bed. The Premier Harvest Cottage adds a queen sofa sleeper for up to four guests.
The Two Cottage Garden Suite links two independent cottages through a shared private yard. Together they provide 900 square feet indoors and a separate 1,000-square-foot garden and patio. Both cottages have king beds and indoor fireplaces; one also has a queen sofa bed. The suite's stated capacity is four guests.
French doors open onto the garden, where chaise lounges, a dining table, two fire pits and two outdoor showers fill the private space. Inside, each cottage has its own bathroom with a walk-in shower, double vanity and heated slate floor. One of the bathrooms also has a deep soaking tub. The two buildings give each bedroom its own entrance to the shared outdoor area.
The Wellness Suite also spans two cottages and 900 square feet indoors, but has a different arrangement. One cottage contains a king bedroom with a fireplace; the other is a living space with a queen sofa sleeper. It accommodates four. A private sauna and cold plunge sit in the backyard. Yoga mats, a Bryte Balance bed, a soaking tub and heated bathroom floors complete the facilities, without requiring a visit to the main spa.
The Carneros Residence has 1,700 square feet inside and a separate 1,000-square-foot backyard. Two king bedrooms, one with an additional queen Murphy bed, accommodate up to six guests. A full kitchen opens up the option of cooking, while a dining area and living room provide space to gather. Outside are an in-ground hot tub, fireplace and gas barbecue.
Vacation homes occupy a gated enclave and come in two- and three-bedroom layouts. The standard Two Bedroom Home measures 2,400 square feet, with two king suites and a sofa sleeper. The Three Bedroom Home has two king bedrooms and a third with a queen bed, sleeping six. A separate Two Bedroom & Hot Tub category has one king and two double beds, along with a rooftop sundeck and media room.
FARM Restaurant and Bar takes its lead from California produce, using ingredients from the resort's gardens and local growers. The dining room opens the evening toward an expanded fireside patio, with a bar and the adjoining FARM Pavilion providing other places to settle. Seasonal cooking and the garden connection preserve the restaurant's wine-country focus, whether you dine inside or beside the fire.
Boon Fly Café serves its signature donuts, fried chicken and other comfort dishes in a casual roadhouse setting. Brunch runs into the afternoon, followed by dinner. Dinner reservations are available, while brunch is a walk-in affair. Both Boon Fly and FARM welcome local diners as well as resort guests.
Hilltop Dining Room is reserved for overnight guests. Breakfast and lunch are served with vineyard views through large windows and from the patios outside. Cottage dining is another option, with meals delivered to your accommodation from morning until late evening. You can eat at your own table or on the patio without going to a restaurant.
Town Square is the resort's public gathering place, with lawn games, shops and casual food. At MARKET, coffee, pastries and picnic provisions sit alongside groceries for the cottage. COOP stocks clothing and accessories. POST offers wine and spirit tastings, with indoor seating and tables out among the gardens.
The FARM Pavilion has lounge-style seating by fire pits, small plates and cocktails, with live music in the evenings. Bocce courts and oversized chess and checkers give the square a playful side. These shared spaces bring people out of their cottages without requiring a trip into Napa or Sonoma.
Hilltop Pool looks over the vineyards and is reserved for guests aged sixteen and over. A hot tub and fire pit sit nearby. Otto's Pool is the family pool, with shaded seating and space for children to swim. Both are outdoors, with food and drinks available poolside.
The Spa at Carneros welcomes overnight guests aged eighteen and over. Its menu includes massages, facials, body treatments and side-by-side couples massages. Fire & Ice pairs an infrared sauna with a cold plunge. Another signature experience combines a body scrub, an outdoor mineral soak and a massage.
The 3,000-square-foot fitness center has round-the-clock access and equipment for strength, cardio and functional training. Yoga, Pilates and mobility classes take place in the Movement Studio. There are also two dedicated pickleball courts, with paddles and balls available, plus lessons and clinics. Bicycles can be borrowed on a first-come basis for time around the property.
Los Carneros spans both Napa and Sonoma counties. Fog and winds from the bay shape its cooler growing conditions, with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and sparkling wines among the region's specialties. The resort's southern-valley position puts both downtown Napa and Sonoma Square within reach by road, while retaining a countryside setting.
San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento airports provide arrival options, and private airport transport can be arranged on request. Driving times depend on Bay Area traffic and your route. The resort has electric-vehicle charging and a local car service operating within a five-mile radius.
An adults-only Hilltop Pool and separate family pool offer different swimming settings, so both couples and families have space suited to them.
FARM cooks with produce from its own gardens and local suppliers. Its fireside patio adds an outdoor setting for a relaxed dinner.
Boon Fly Café serves brunch until late afternoon, so its signature donuts need not depend on getting up early during your stay.
