Estelle Manor

Estelle Manor brings the sociability of a country club to a Grade II-listed house in Eynsham Park, Oxfordshire. On the edge of the Cotswolds, the hotel combines a historic main building with garden rooms, woodland cabins and private houses. Its 108 bedrooms, four restaurants and Roman-inspired Eynsham Baths allow a stay to take several forms: a weekend centered on dining, an extended family gathering or a few days with time reserved for the spa. The Manor House puts you close to the main lounges and restaurants. Its Cosy Rooms measure 21 square meters, while Country Rooms offer 24 square meters and Manor House Rooms range from 35 to 44. Smaller categories make sense for a short visit spent largely outside the bedroom; the larger rooms leave more room to settle in. Children must be at least 13 to stay in Manor House bedrooms. Families with younger children should consider the garden, stable or woodland accommodation instead.

Stable Rooms have emperor king beds and overlook the southern lawn, with velvet and rattan furniture setting a less formal tone. Standard rooms measure 35 square meters; Large Stable Rooms offer 44. Walled Garden Rooms begin at 37 square meters, with fireplaces and views toward the Glasshouse. Both areas are about a four-minute walk from the main house. Standard upstairs Stable and Walled Garden Rooms are reached by stairs, without an elevator, so anyone requiring step-free access should have a specific room confirmed before booking.

Suite names are worth examining beyond floor area. A 45-square-meter Walled Garden Suite looks over the kitchen gardens, while the 49-square-meter Large Walled Garden Suite adds a separate sitting room. Its mahogany-surrounded bathtub sits beneath stained glass. Stable Suites introduce dining tables and a separate seating area, useful when a bedroom also needs to serve as a place for a leisurely meal or an evening indoors.

Within the Manor House, Estate Suites measure 55 to 60 square meters and look toward the South Terrace. Estelle Suites are larger, at 70 to 87 square meters, with silk sofas, velvet chairs and antique rugs. A separately listed balcony version includes an 18-square-meter outdoor area within its advertised total size. Compare the exact category if a balcony, separate lounge or particular outlook matters. These are different arrangements, not simply successive versions of the same room.

The 90-square-meter Woodland Cabins have two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, and sleep four. A vaulted living room, fireplace and dining table give everyone a shared place to gather without using a bedroom. They stand beside Eynsham Baths, approximately seven minutes on foot from the Manor House. This location is particularly convenient for adults planning spa visits, although meals in the main building involve a walk through the estate.

For larger parties, Hollyhock has three master suites and sleeps six, with private terraces and a vaulted gathering room. The Farriers accommodates ten across five bedrooms and includes a kitchen with a large dining table. Its bedrooms span two levels, a detail to consider when assigning rooms across generations. Bluebell House is the largest, with six bedrooms for twelve. The private houses have butler service. Their appeal for longer stays is the combination of shared living areas and separate bedrooms, rather than keeping a group spread across individual hotel rooms.

The four restaurants make dining a substantial part of a stay. The Brasserie serves British seasonal cooking, including beef Wellington and Oxford cheddar souffle, with an adjoining Orangery and outlooks across the grounds. The Billiards Room takes a different direction: Chinese dishes such as dim sum, char siu pork and roast duck accompany green velvet seating and Murano chandeliers. It is a more richly decorated room for a shared dinner.

In the Walled Garden, The Glasshouse draws on produce grown on the estate. Wood-fired pizzas and seasonal dishes give it a casual role, particularly for families. The Armoury serves Japanese cooking, from sashimi and maki to tempura and robata, with a sushi bar and terrace for drinks. Between restaurant meals, The Potting Shed Cafe supplies sandwiches, salads and pastries near The Clubhouse. Dining reservations are restricted to members and hotel guests, so a room here provides access to restaurants that do not operate as ordinary public neighborhood venues.

Eynsham Baths occupies a separate 3,000-square-meter building in the woodland. Roman-inspired columns and marble details frame a tepidarium bathing hall, five thermal pools and ten treatment rooms. The thermal circuit moves between hot and cold areas, including a hay sauna, while couples can book treatments in dedicated suites. A Tea Lounge overlooks the bathing hall. Allow time for the bathhouse itself instead of fitting it between a crowded sequence of activities.

The spa is for guests aged 18 and over, and access should be reserved in advance. Some accommodation categories include a Thermal Journey; others require a separate charge. Check the terms attached to the exact room rather than assuming every stay includes the baths. Outside the Manor House, the South Terrace has a separate 25-meter swimming pool, loungers and a bar. Children use this pool during designated family sessions, which are distinct from the adults-only spa experience.

The Nook caters to children aged three to eight, with areas for creative play, quieter activities and soft play. Garden rooms place families near both the club and The Glasshouse, and adjacent rooms can be requested. Babysitting requires advance arrangement. For older children and adults, the estate's pursuits include archery, falconry and guided outdoor activities, with suitability and availability depending on the session. Padel courts and the adults-only Clubhouse gym provide alternatives to an organized excursion. Leave some unscheduled time for the gardens rather than treating every day as a timetable.

Hanborough and Oxford Parkway are the relevant rail arrival points from London, followed by a transfer to the hotel. Heathrow is approximately 75 minutes away by car in favorable traffic; Oxford Airport is closer, around 15 minutes away. The team can arrange transport. Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds countryside offer reasons to venture beyond the gates, with guided fishing at Blenheim among the hotel's arranged pursuits.

Dogs can stay in accommodation outside the Manor House bedrooms, subject to advance notice and the property's conditions. Photography is restricted in the principal shared spaces, including restaurants, the spa and pool area. These house rules reflect the club's emphasis on privacy. Estelle Manor works particularly well when its accommodation, dining and activities are considered together: choose a room that suits your party, reserve the experiences that matter, and leave the rest of the stay open.
