Belmond Mount Nelson

Since 1899, Cape Town's most renowned hotel, the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, has continued to host guests from around the world. Its impeccable service, charming architecture, and outstanding restaurants account for its esteemed reputation. You can expect to experience the most luxurious and memorable trip of your life that will have you wishing you could stay here forever.

Located at the heart of Cape Town, South Africa, the luxury hotel is a lush green oasis. It is skirted with spindly palm trees, shrubs, and green lawns that stretch far with vibrant blossoms. It is really at the foot of Table Mountain.

The hotel's private grounds also house two swimming pools and a tennis court. Guests relish taking a stroll down the Country Gardens and touring the beautiful city. Additionally, there are many fascinating museums and fashion stores to explore in the bustling center.

At the hotel's rear, guests can also dine at fancy restaurants on Kloof Street to make their time at the hotel a grand affair. The whole city glows with a refreshing buzz of green and gives you a sense of serenity.

Design and Architecture

From its classical-style lobby to luxurious accommodations, the architecture of Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel - also called the Pink Lady - is exquisite. On arrival, guests are led through columned entryways to a posh reception area with wooden desks, cream-colored ceilings, and chandeliers. The lobby also has plush velvet chairs and dark-hued rugs.

Moreover, Belmond Mount Nelson's grand ballroom often holds memorable wedding ceremonies with its splendid set-up and extravagant vibe. Furthermore, the hotel was painted pink in 1918 as a sign of peace, celebrating the end of World War I.

Rooms and Suites

The Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel houses 198 fantastic accommodations in the East Wing. These range from guest rooms and Suites to expansive Cottage Suites. The rooms were designed by well-known, London-based interior designer Inge Moore. She gave the spacious interiors an elegant and contemporary outlook. Moreover, standard rooms are spacious with a range of amenities. These include iPod docks, flat-screen TVs, desks, DVD players, and free Wi-Fi. Besides, if you want more space with beautiful views of the lush gardens, go for the deluxe rooms.

Additionally, the luxury suites have further subcategories, including one-room junior suites and majestic Presidential Suite. The Presidential Suite accommodates a kitchenette stocked with essentials and a private dining room built in a modernistic manner and decorated with expensive décor. There is also a private balcony that offers extraordinary Table Mountain views.

Furthermore, suites have the same amenities as standard rooms. The Deluxe and Classic suites also include private balconies, where guests can lounge late evenings and enjoy the beautiful view. The Garden Cottage Suites are beside the massive pool and resemble vacation homes. These villa-style suites have king-size beds, luxurious décor, dining rooms, and balconies.

Furthermore, all accommodations boast a similar theme of neutral shades, patterned carpets, off-white walls, and armchairs with gold-trimmed upholstery. The light hues contrast brilliantly with dark-wood furniture and vibrant paintings gracing the wall. Moreover, gilded mirrors grant the interiors a vintage appeal. Adjacent to the rooms are bathrooms with marble floors. There are also massive bathtubs, double vanities, walk-in showers, and large mirrors fitted inside walls.

Restaurant and Bar

If you want a formal candlelight dinner with your partner in a lavish setting, then the Lord Nelson Restaurant is the perfect place for you. Under the headship of Chef Rudi Liebenberg, the restaurant serves delicious dishes. These are cooked from locally sourced ingredients. Moreover, don't forget to try out the chef's highlight five-course menu, Wasted. It is basically vegetables, fruits, fish, and meat. Most of the vegetables come from the community farming project, Abalimi Bezekhaya.

High tea and afternoon tea at the lounge is another fascinating culinary experience, and the delightful menu will blow you away. Here, you can get the best tea in the whole city. The tea sommelier even helps guests choose from 100 different tea flavors. You will never forget this tea experience, for nothing compares to it.

Additionally, the Planet Bar is on the open terrace and is an incredible place to spend the evenings. The ambiance is ethereal, with checkerboard tiles gleaming in the golden light. There is also an outdoor seating area with tables on the lawn. The indoor area boasts an infusion of modern and classical designs through crystal chandeliers that mimic a starry constellation and deep blue carpets patterned with moons and stars.

The menu is primarily contemporary, featuring grilled meat, vegan and vegetarian options. There is also a wide array of mouth-watering desserts. Another popular local spot is the after-work watering hole. Tourists and locals generally crowd this area.

The best dining outlet at the restaurant for breakfast is undoubtedly the Oasis Bistro, open throughout the week. And the best bit? A complimentary buffet breakfast early in the morning.

This hotel in Cape Town also houses the Librisa Spa. It offers various treatments, including body massages and facials. Guests can visit the spa to revitalize their spirits and relax. Treatments are done by specialists who use Dermalogica and Africology products. There are eight treatment rooms. Moreover, the spa also has steam rooms, a sauna, and a leafy sanctuary with armchairs.
