Southern Dunes The Red Sea is a Six Senses Resort that offers luxury accommodations in a breathtaking setting. The rooms, villas, and suites are set in a dune landscape that resembles an oasis, under tent-like roofing. These accommodations blend a fresh, modern style with a traditional, warm feel. Suites have 60-square-meter terraces, which can also be used as an outdoor living room. Moreover, the villas have private pools and plenty of space. They are also larger than the rooms and suites. Six Senses Spa is a must-see. It spans nearly 4,000 sq. ft. over two levels and features six treatment areas, a fitness center, two swimming pools, and a bar. Activities include cooking lessons and fishing excursions on the Red Sea. The resort also offers a variety of dining options. British architects Foster + Partners designed the hotel, which runs on 100% renewable energy.
The Six Senses Southern Dunes Resort is about one hour away by car from the Red Sea International Airport. This airport is in the Alnesai region of the desert. The area encompasses 28,000 square kilometers of islands, seas, and deserts. You can also fly from AlUla Airport and Jeddah Airport. They are both just over a five-hour drive away. Moreover, the resort offers breathtaking views from all around. Guests can see the Hijaz Mountains, the Khuff Formation, and the golden dunes that give it its name.
It's hard to miss the desert-modernist feel of the 76 suites, villas, and rooms between rolling rocky mountains and soft sand. These pool villas have angular roofs that shade them and bright yellow walls with large outdoor terraces. They also feature plunge pools heated by the sun. The interior design was created in collaboration with the Red Sea Global team. It features sinuous curves emulating the contours and textures of dunes. Moreover, a button next to the mattress opens and shuts sheers and drapes. You can also enjoy the desert view from your duvet by pressing the button. The bathrooms have tactile surfaces and spacious showers. They also have deep bathtubs that you can fill with fragrant homemade products. Soft, light, and cozy, the brushed cotton robes will make you want to keep one at home. They're available in the resort boutique. Although the Wadi Suites, which are 90 square meters, offer more living and sleeping space, they also have large terraces with daybeds. Besides, the Wadi Rooms, which are 60 square meters, provide a generous living and sleeping space, along with sweeping views.
Eat With Six Senses' philosophy is evident in all seven of the hotel's dining venues. These include three main restaurants, a culinary school with chefs' tables, a pool bar and grill, villa dining, and a 24-hour gelato station. You will wish that every hotel offered a gelato machine. The hotel also emphasizes locally sourced, sustainable, natural, and organic ingredients. So you can easily enjoy healthy and flavorful food. Al Sarab's modern twists on Middle Eastern flavors are also enticing. Bariya's Breakfast is an excellent blend of Western, Arabic, and other dishes. There's also a whole bar full of healthy juices and protein shakes. Moreover, the restaurant is dedicated to sustainability. That's why you won't see avocados on the menu. They can hurt the environment, both in farming and production. In-Villa Dining's multi-course meal also includes tasty grills and side dishes.
Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea is also serious about wellness. The Spa covers an area of nearly 4,000 square meters. It features six treatment rooms, a meditation dome, and separate salons for men and women. There's also a holistic center focused on anti-aging, as well as a lounge for biohacking. The Spa offers multiple-day wellness programs focusing on sleep, weight management, and detox. You can join fitness activities like aerial yoga, breathing exercises, and meditation. Moreover, fitness stations are all around the hotel. Like Tarzan's ladders, you'll find a fully equipped gym and outdoor fitness areas with wooden weights.
Southern Dunes is not a real neighborhood. It's tucked away in a desert, surrounded by dunes and hills. You may even see a wandering camel. Hiking or biking is the best way to explore this area. A fence also surrounds the property, keeping the camels out. That is the gate that guests use to access the desert. Although climbing dunes and seeing the beautiful sunrise is complex, the wispy shades of pink and violet are worth the effort. Six Senses' new neighbors will include the St. Regis Red Sea Resort and Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve.
Families will also find plenty to do at this resort. The Grow with Six Senses Kids' Club features splash pads and table tennis. Earth Lab offers fun, hands-on activities. Kids can also enjoy workshops on making recycled paper, henna, and wax paper. Moreover, the villas have extra beds, and connecting rooms are available. Gelato Pods are also a big hit among kids and adults alike.
