Hotel Metropole Venice

People's eyes are drawn to Venice, and their hearts are moved by it. The Hotel Metropole Venice has the same kind of magic that makes it feel good to all senses. It is one of the best hotels in Venice that makes you feel like you're part of a story, and here everything has its own story. All in one, it's a 5-star hotel with a restaurant known for its creative food and a bunch of awards. The Beggiato family has owned the Metropole for many generations, and its museum-quality curiosity collections, which include ancient corkscrews, fans, and nutcrackers, can be found throughout the hotel.

Overview

The five-star Hotel Metropole Venice is as charming and beautiful as the city of Venice itself. It is in a palace from the 1600s and has views overlooking the lagoon. In this place with a lot of history, Vivaldi wrote "The Four Seasons," and "Death in Venice" was written by Thomas Mann. You'll be close to St. Mark's Square and the hotel's collection of antiques. After you check into your luxurious room or suite, the first place you should go is the Oriental Bar. This is where you can drink cocktails and try Chef Luca Veritti's creative Italian food.

Location

The Metropole Hotel is on a famous promenade with great views of San Giorgio Maggiore Island and the Grand Canal. However, on the Riva degli Schiavoni promenade that faces the famous lagoon, it may be hard to get around when tour groups deal with souvenir sellers by the water.

The dark and luxurious interior of The Metropole quickly erases any memories of how bad the city looks from the outside. Plus, Piazza San Marco is close enough to walk to. Moreover, your water taxi can use a private water way to get there, but otherwise, the only way to get there is to cross a bridge. It is only a short stroll away from a Vaporetto (water bus) stop.

Rooms and Suites

Over the last several years, many of the hotel's 67 rooms and suites have been remodeled, bringing in even more gorgeous soft brocade furnishings and antiques ranging from the 18th century through Art Deco and Asia. Moreover, each has its distinct style and personality.

All rooms have mosaic-clad fountains and Turkish baths. The rooftop suites have their own private "Altana" roof terraces, which overlook the city. Several rooms have a fantastic lagoon view. However, they might be loud if you prefer open windows to air conditioning. Marble or glistening mosaics adorn the bathrooms of the rich and famous.

The Hotel Metropole Venice gives off an air of exclusivity with its antique furniture, gilded mirrors, and brocade fabrics. Plus, Oriental and Art Deco works of art in each of its 67 rooms and suites. In addition to marble or sparkling mosaics, the bathrooms have Gilchrist & Soames soaps and luxury extras like fluffy white robes and soft slippers.

Furthermore, the Porta d'Oro Suite has two mosaic baths of mother-of-pearl, a fireplace, and a big bed with a detailed gold headboard. The Rooftop Suite also has a private roof terrace and a bathtub that looks like a hammam. Besides, you can use free Wi-Fi. You can also have massages done in the comfort of your room.

Dining

You can eat and drink at two of Venice's most popular restaurants and bars when you stay at the Hotel Metropole Venice. Moreover, no matter what time of day or night you eat at the Michelin-star winning Met Restaurant and Oriental Bar, you'll have a great time. Guests may also enjoy breakfast and drinks in the Citrus Garden, open throughout the warmer months.

Met Restaurant

This restaurant in Venice is one of the most expensive because it has Fortuny fabrics on the walls, kimono wall hangings, and velvet seats. Chef Luca Veritti's Italian food is based on how fresh and good the food in the area is. There are cannoli with foie gras and yellow peaches on the tasting menu. There is also paccheri pasta with scampi and smoked eggplant cream and squid ink pasta with scampi and smoked eggplant.

The Oriental Bar

The Oriental Bar at the Met is elegantly decorated with deep crimson velvet and dark woods. It serves expertly made cocktails, an extensive tea menu from the Met Restaurant, sandwiches, snacks, and light meals. Additionally, indulge in an afternoon tea ceremony with unique blends from the Parisian tea shop Dammann Frères. This has more than 30 kinds of the famous Venetian spritz and more than a dozen martinis on its long menu.

Leisure and Activities

Check out the Metropole Hotel's unique collection of old things that belong in a museum. There are Belle-Époque evening bags, beautiful fan cases, mother-of-pearl boxes, and strange corkscrews, among other things. Then, take a Vaporetto or a gondola ride to get the whole Venice experience. You can stop at St. Mark's Square, the beautiful St. Mark's Basilica, and the Doge Palace.

Moreover, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection has works by modern artists like Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Salvador Dal. From San Giorgio Maggiore Island, you can take the Vaporetto to get there. From the campanile on the island, people can see the beautiful city and sea views.

Takeaway

Forbes Travel Guide 2018 gives this hotel a lot of praise for being a top-notch luxury hotel in the heart of Venice. Each of the hotel's 67 rooms and suites views the lagoon, side canal, or garden. There is also a dock for water taxis at the Metropole Hotel to get there in style. In the courtyard, which smells of jasmine, you can enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast.

Take a gondola ride through Venice's canals to see the most famous places in the city. Moreover, in the charming Rose Room, you can try a wide range of unique drinks and light food. The beautiful location and luxurious design of the Metropole Hotel make it a popular place for a romantic getaway. Afternoon tea is available in the Oriental Bar, which used to be a chapel where Vivaldi taught music. You could also put candles and rose petals in your room or plan a gondola ride at sunset.
