The word Eden inspires thoughts of an idyllic place where life and all worldly needs are taken care of without effort. The Eden in Rome has become a byword for an idyllic hotel where every need is cared for by impeccable caring staff.
Now part of the Dorchester collection of global luxury accommodations, Hotel Eden has been restored and updated in recent years to its former matchless status.
Hotel Eden is in Rome's affluent Ludovisi area, named from a wealthy Roman family of the same name. This family owned the land for centuries until they sold it for redevelopment. Later, in 1887 the hotel building was constructed, originally as residential property.
The Nistelweck family purchased the building, refurbished it, and opened it to guests as a luxury hotel in 1889. Afterward, it became instantly popular, especially with English visitors. It later went through many changes and upscaled until finally becoming part of the Dorchester Collection in 2013.
The hotel benefits from a central position in the Eternal City. It sits conveniently for visitors between the exclusive Via Veneto and the lush Villa Borghese Gardens.
Famous sites such as the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and the Pantheon are nearby. Moreover, high-end shopping, Tony boutiques, and classy restaurants are around the hotel, the Piazza di Spagna and Campo Marzio.
A taxi ride or the Metro will take guests to the Colosseum, St Peter's Square, and the Vatican museums in under half an hour. Additionally, Rome's two international airports, Fiumicino/da Vinci and Ciampino, are about a 30-minute drive.
Liveried staff meets guests warmly at the entrance to the hotel. Moreover, reception and concierge staff are equally welcoming and renowned for impeccable standards of guest care. Eden manages to be top-notch and still warm, efficient, child and pet-friendly.
Guests enter through high and elegant glass double doors into the refined splendor of the hotel décor, reimagined by architect-designers Moinard and Betaille.
Style themes include a lot of shining white marble and gilt touches with watercolor paintings. Besides, mosaic-patterned carpeting reflects Roman life. Fresh flowers also add color and beauty to all the rooms.
New art comes via the 'artist in residence,' Andrea Ferolla, who visits twice monthly. She captures the life of the hotel in unique illustrations. Sumptuous facilities are also available for private dining, business meetings, or weddings.
The 98 rooms and suites of the Eden Hotel Rome give a sense of light and freshness. All feature high ceilings and natural light from large elegantly draped windows. Besides, glass, marble, fresh flowers, and warm, gentle colors with the pristine white bed linen.
With a slight difference in size, both styles have contemporary, but quintessentially Roman, décor. What's more, golden and cream tones predominate with lavish bathrooms in white marble and gold highlights.
Both offer many modern in-room amenities, and huge, comfortable beds are standard. In addition, both types of rooms have city view options.
Junior suites are one-bedroom, open-plan with sitting area and en-suite marbled bathroom with complimentary Bottega Veneta toiletries. The Eden, circled by its own gardens, is noted for its peacefulness amid the city's hum. This is especially true of the Classic suites. They include sitting/study areas, soothing décor, and fine art pieces depicting Roman and Florentine classical architecture.
Additionally, lavish bathrooms have deep tubs and separate showers. Besides, high windows reveal fine vistas of the city or garden in view suite options.
Prestige Suites are also a popular choice with guests for space, light, and views afforded from the high windows. Fine fabrics, furnishings, and Italian art complete the picture.
These are apartment-type suites with many additional refinements. Dolce Vita extras include panoramic double views from high windows over the city, including the Victor Emmanuel monument and a superb dressing room.
Aurora features a private sun/dining terrace overlooking the Aurora Villa gardens. There is also a free-standing bathtub in the spacious deluxe bathroom.
The Villa Medici Presidential Suite on the fifth floor is expansive and elegant with fine furnishings, rose-gold color accents, with black delineations. Natural light streams through several windows, all with balconies from which to enjoy the panoramic views.
The Penthouse is a sixth-floor stunningly beautiful suite with sublime views from 'wrap-around swing-opening windows. Spacious and chic in a contemporary style, the Penthouse also features a private elevator, powder room, bar, and butler service.
Terrazza is the hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant with stunning views and sublime Mediterranean cuisine devised by Chef Fabio Ciervo using the finest local ingredients. Guest chefs assist with the heavenly sweet creations that follow the main courses.
Il Giardino Ristorante celebrates the Italian love of food, friendship, conversation, and scenery. Moreover, the restaurant offers delightful all-day rooftop dining with typical Italian menus and local seasonal produce.
The freshest pasta and salads, seafood, and tasty pizzas are here, along with special weekend menus. This is also a wonderful place to enjoy great breakfasts while enjoying a spectacular view of Rome. For drinks, the Giardino also has a bar for sunsets and sundowners.
This 'secret' room is tucked away above the lobby. Here guests can unwind, chat, drink good Italian coffee, have some grappa to sustain, survive the shopping/sightseeing trips, or have a quiet moment alone.
Besides, seating is there for comfort in fall colors. Here, guests can enjoy cocktails and drinks as they relax in a quiet haven.
Small but exclusive areas of extreme luxury in this busy capital city. Private treatment rooms, steam baths, specialist facials using ultra-luxe products and the newest techniques, and body massages are offered in this luxury spa facility.
The Gua Sha Facelift Ritual is the designer treatment of the moment. A celebrity hairdresser is also available by appointment. Moreover, the gym has every kind of modern fitness equipment and is open all day for guests.
The modern Eden Hotel retains an aura of refined luxury and elegance to match the heights of its former Belle Epoque glory hence, why the name 'Eden' applies.
