Jacques Couëlle conceived the hotel in the 1960s. Irregular rooflines, terracotta, and rough whitewashed walls give the buildings their sculpted character. Inside, curved, almost cave-like spaces reflect that same approach. Local craftsmanship is integral to the design, with handmade details and an earthy palette connecting the interiors to the coast. The result is an unusually expressive setting, where a doorway or a passage can be as memorable as a terrace overlooking the water.

The contemporary interiors by Bruno Moinard and Claire Bétaille use carefully worked materials on a smaller scale. Poliform produced bespoke furniture and architectural fittings for these rooms and suites, including bronze handles and table bases. Some bronze forms take their cue from seaweed, while coffee tables combine bronze with poured glass. Concealed technology and soft lighting leave these materials in view. This is a distinct strand of Cala di Volpe's design, carried through furniture, lighting, and fittings rather than applied as a single decorative theme throughout every room. The fittings use sculptural forms developed by the designers and produced with 3D printing.

There are 121 rooms and suites in total, with accommodation in the Original Wing and Main Building. Views differ considerably. Heritage Rooms and Contemporary Classic Rooms have inner views; Design Deluxe Rooms look onto the garden and have garden access. Contemporary Superior Rooms have partial sea views, while the Design Premium and Contemporary Premium categories face the sea. Terraces feature across these categories, but a terrace does not necessarily mean a coastal outlook.

Among the suites, the Contemporary Luxury Suite has a king bed, a separate living room, and a sea-facing terrace. Its approximately 45 square meters accommodate two guests. The Harrods Suite occupies the rooftop, with approximately 250 square meters inside and the same amount outdoors. Marriott lists three king beds, three bathrooms, separate living and dining rooms, and a maximum occupancy of six. Other layouts include the Heritage Suite with partial sea views and the seafront Design Suite, both in the Original Wing.

Harrods Interior Design created this penthouse as one accommodation, known as the Harrods Suite. Carved wooden doors, bronze alcoves above the beds, and fluted limestone bring texture to the interior. Hand-painted wardrobe glass uses green, blue, and gold. Outside, the private rooftop pool sits beside a sunbathing deck, while a pergola shelters the dining area. The roof terrace gives the suite its own space for meals and time outdoors, looking across the coastline.

The Olympic-size saltwater pool is a central gathering place, with a separate outdoor pool for children. The beach is a different part of the resort experience: a boat from the hotel's pier takes about five minutes to reach it, subject to conditions. Water activities include kayaking, paddleboarding, and snorkeling. La Volpe Kids Club caters to ages three through twelve, with multilingual staff, an outdoor playground, gardening, and children's cooking activities. The boat-served beach is reserved for hotel guests.

The Shiseido Spa has a steam room and a treatment menu that includes massages, facials, and body treatments. Couples massages and in-suite massages are also available by appointment. The sea-view fitness center uses Technogym equipment, and personal training can be arranged. These facilities sit alongside the outdoor sports program; there is space for an independent workout as well as coached activity.

Le Grand serves Mediterranean food in a bay-facing setting, while Cala di Volpe Barbecue brings lunch outdoors beside the pool. Its buffet includes seafood and homemade pasta, presented around Sardinian marble displays. Matsuhisa at Cala di Volpe adds Nobuyuki Matsuhisa's Japanese cooking to the choice. For drinks, Atrium Bar combines bay views with live piano music; the Lobby Bar provides another setting for cocktails. African Queen is the beach venue, drawing on Mediterranean and African flavors.

Evening dining has a dressier character. Some restaurant listings specify formal attire, and the general dinner guidance excludes shorts and beachwear. Families with very young children should note that children aged three and under have an early-evening dining window.

Beefbar brings Riccardo Giraudi's restaurant concept to the hotel during summer. Meat cuts and street-food-inspired dishes are central to its menu, alongside Leaf and Reef selections covering vegetables and seafood.

The Mouratoglou Tennis Center is within the hotel grounds, with four outdoor hard courts and two padel courts. Guests can reserve a court or arrange private and small-group lessons, with coaching adapted to their level. The program covers adults and juniors, including a junior age range of five to sixteen. Lessons and court rental can be arranged directly with the center.

Nearby Pevero Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Robert Trent Jones. Its 6,107-meter layout moves through Mediterranean scrub, granite formations, and natural lakes. Myrtle and juniper are part of the landscape, and the Mistral can influence how the course plays. Practice facilities include a driving range and areas for putting, pitching, and bunker work. Golf is arranged at the club, away from the hotel grounds. Its Ai Due Mari restaurant is also offsite, a few minutes away by car, with views across the course between the gulfs of Pevero and Cala di Volpe and a menu that includes Sardinian and Mediterranean cooking.

Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is the main nearby airport, listed by the hotel at 26.6 kilometers away. Private car or limousine transfers can be arranged; the hotel does not operate an airport shuttle. Cala di Volpe is by its own bay rather than in Porto Cervo's marina, so visits to the town and other parts of the coast involve a separate journey. On-property services include a hair salon, babysitting arrangements, and 24-hour room service. Parking and electric-vehicle charging are available for guests exploring Sardinia by car.
