The Boathouse has a different relationship with the estate. This standalone suite for two sits at the edge of Lough Corrib, a few minutes from the castle, with gated access, private gardens, and lakeside terraces. Irish produce and estate-grown ingredients connect the table to the surroundings. Gentlemen need a jacket for dinner, with ties optional; denim and sneakers are not appropriate. Other venues give the stay more range. The Dungeon occupies the lower ground floor, with a casual bistro menu and steaks cooked on a Josper grill. Cullen's at the Cottage brings seafood and locally inspired dishes to a thatched building outside the castle. Its service is seasonal, with a more limited lunch calendar, so check dates before planning around it. Wilde's is another option at The Lodge at Ashford Castle, rather than inside the castle itself.

Afternoon tea belongs in the Connaught Room, where large windows look toward the gardens and lake. Sandwiches, scones, and pastries make it a natural pause between an outdoor morning and evening plans. The Prince of Wales Bar suits whiskey, conversation, and a slower evening. The wine cellars add another setting, with private tastings and dinners arranged in the historic passageways beneath the castle.

The spa gives guests a quieter counterpoint to the estate's outdoor life. Its relaxation pool sits beneath seashell chandeliers beside a Tree of Life mural. Access to this pool and the steam room requires a spa treatment reservation, and treatments are for guests aged 16 and older. Plan this as a reserved spa visit, not an unrestricted family swimming facility.

For leisure swimming, Éalú is a separate estate center used by guests of both the castle and The Lodge. It has a 15-meter pool, a children's splash pool, and fitness facilities. Under-16s have designated hours and need an accompanying adult over 18; they cannot use the gym, thermal facilities, or jacuzzi. Check current children's hours when planning the day.
