The building began as a shipowner's house in the 17th century. Pierre-Yves Rochon's interiors draw on the history of the island and the wider Charente region, with antique furniture, patterned fabrics, and patinated finishes. Owner Olivia Le Calvez worked with craftspeople and regional antiquarians to develop the rooms' individual identities. French textile houses, including Pierre Frey and Canovas, contribute to the collected character. Historical figures, writers, and explorers provide the starting points for the decoration, so a stay has a particular setting rather than an interchangeable room scheme.

Outlook and access vary within the house. The 24-square-meter Maréchal de Toiras Premium Room faces the harbor, while the Evangeline Privilege Room provides 40 square meters, a king bed convertible to twins, and a bathroom with both tub and shower. Premium Garden View Rooms measure 30 to 35 square meters and have queen beds. Nicolas Baudin and Marie Mancini can connect on request and are reached by elevator. Other named rooms require stairs, including the Louis Suire room in the Maison des Artistes, approached through the patio.

The George Washington Presidential Suite has 110 square meters, a separate living room with a fireplace, and views of the port and patio. Its sofa bed accommodates two children under 12 or one older child. The 50-to-60-square-meter Duc de Buckingham Premier Suite combines a separate living room with two bathrooms. Cribs can be requested. These layouts give families more separation than a room with a sitting corner; the precise sleeping arrangement remains tied to the selected suite.

George's is the hotel's principal dining room, decorated in blue and white and facing the harbor. A broad window into the kitchen brings the preparation of dinner into view. Chef Ronan Fillatre's contemporary cooking draws on fish from La Rochelle's market, salt from nearby marshes, and herbs gathered on the island. The wine cellar at the foot of the tower is curated with Éric Beaumard. This is the more structured restaurant experience at Toiras, with elegant dress appreciated and reservations recommended. Hotel guests can ask about Le Panier du Marché, a market visit with the chef to help choose the day's fish. This is arranged subject to availability and gives the meal a connection to the island's suppliers. George's does not have a children's menu; the hotel directs families wanting a less formal meal toward its separate terrace restaurant.

Clarisse et sa terrasse spreads out beneath white parasols beside the harbor. Despite the name, this restaurant is at Toiras, not at Villa Clarisse. Its menu shares the kitchen's sourcing but takes a lighter approach, with seafood, sharing plates, and sweet and savory choices. Ice-cream coupes suit a pause by the water, while the terrace also serves relaxed meals. The distinction between the two restaurants is useful: George's centers on a full dinner, and Clarisse allows a more informal visit to the quay.

Le Salon d'Olivia turns toward the hotel's planted patio, designed by Louis Benech. Pastel colors and lounge seating make this an indoor place to read, talk, or have afternoon tea. A selection of dishes from George's can also be served here. Beside the salon, the Blue Note Bar has high stools around a Calacatta marble counter. Cocktails, wines, and digestifs accompany a jazz soundtrack. The bar and lounge bring another scale to the hotel's public spaces, away from the restaurant tables facing the boats.

Villa Clarisse & Spa stands about a three-minute walk from Toiras, within the village streets. Its nine rooms and suites are separate accommodation, arranged around a garden associated with Louis Benech. The heated outdoor pool belongs to this sister property and operates seasonally. Toiras guests have access arrangements here, with reservations and availability to be discussed through the hotel. Swimming here involves a short walk from the harbor.

The spa at Villa Clarisse uses Olivier Claire products and has two treatment rooms, including one for scrubs and wet treatments. A hammam and a room for resting and self-directed exercise complete the facilities. Treatments can be booked by outside visitors as well as hotel guests.
