Grand Hotel du Palais Royal Paris

At Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal, Paris begins with the gardens and arcades beside the hotel. The address is 4 Rue de Valois, a short walk from the Louvre, with Café 52 opening onto Place de Valois. From here, guests can reach the Tuileries, Rue Saint-Honoré, the Seine, galleries, and restaurants without building every day around taxis. The hotel has 59 rooms and suites, keeping its scale small within this busy part of the capital.

The interiors favor light and soft tones, including pale green and mauve. In the lobby, a small shopping corner presents a changing selection of lifestyle brands, many of them Parisian. It is a modest extension of the shops around the Palais Royal, with objects to browse within the hotel itself.

Behind the listed facade, Pierre-Yves Rochon's design works with the proportions of an eighteenth-century building. A substantial staircase with a wrought-iron banister provides a focal point, with an oversized trunk concealing the luggage room at its foot. The architecture gives the public spaces a sense of an established Parisian house, while contemporary furniture keeps the rooms from becoming period recreations.

Textiles and original art contribute much of the detail. Lithographs, monotypes, and paintings appear alongside carefully chosen fabrics and lighting. Floral arrangements by Debeaulieu carry the garden connection indoors, including compositions of dried flowers. There is detail to notice in the shared spaces as well as upstairs, particularly where the decorative fabrics meet the building's older architectural lines.

Superior Rooms measure about 205 square feet and face the streets, Place de Valois, or an interior courtyard. Bathrooms have either a shower or a bathtub. Junior Suites expand to around 345 square feet, with a sofa bed and desk. The Suite category, at about 375 square feet, has a separate living room. Junior Suite Prestige instead uses an island unit to divide its sleeping and sitting areas. Balconies are category-specific.

The Eiffel Tower Suite is a duplex of approximately 590 square feet, with a terrace overlooking Paris landmarks. The Rooftop Suite occupies the seventh and highest floor, reached by a private elevator. Its separate living and dining rooms lead to a furnished terrace with views toward the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur, the Palais Royal, and the Louvre. This outdoor space belongs to the suite, rather than a communal rooftop bar.

Café 52 Paris 1er anchors the hotel's food and drink. Executive Chef Maxime Raab builds the menu around seasonal produce, with vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free options. The cooking draws on organic ingredients and French suppliers, and the restaurant holds Ecotable certification. Fish, poultry, and plant-led dishes sit within the same menu, so the emphasis on produce does not mean an entirely vegetarian restaurant.

Breakfast is served as a buffet, and the restaurant continues through lunch and dinner. A champagne brunch brings a more extended weekend meal, with starters, seafood, salads, a choice of main course, and pastries. The approach is seasonal without restricting the restaurant to a single style of dish.

Beside the dining room, the bar has warm, floral tones and serves cocktails with finger food. It welcomes Parisians as well as hotel guests, giving the room a connection to the neighborhood. The terrace on Place de Valois provides an open-air alternative for a meal or drink.

The wellness area is compact and specific: a treatment room, hot tub, hammam, and fitness room. Holidermie, the Parisian beauty brand founded by Mélanie Huynh, provides the facial and body treatment approach. Appointments are arranged through the concierge, who can also discuss private use of the wellness space. The hot tub is a separate facility from the steam-filled hammam, not a swimming pool.

The gym combines cardio and strength equipment with space and accessories for yoga. A treadmill, exercise bike, and elliptical trainer cover different forms of indoor exercise, while weights allow a strength session without leaving the building. Together with the treatment room, these facilities provide a modest wellness area within the hotel, without turning the stay into a prescribed program.

The accommodation layout deserves attention when traveling with children. Superior, Superior Balcony, Deluxe, and Executive Rooms have a maximum occupancy of two. Families needing more sleeping space therefore look to suites or connecting arrangements, with the exact configuration confirmed for their party. The hotel's family service also includes arranging babysitting on request.

A Clefs d'Or concierge team can help plan the stay before arrival, including visits and practical arrangements around Paris. Room service runs day and night, allowing dinner or breakfast to take place upstairs. Laundry can be requested for longer stays, and the hotel accepts pets under its pet policy. These are practical services in a small property where much of the day may be spent outside.

The neighboring Palais Royal gives the address more than proximity to the Louvre. Its garden is bordered by galleries originally built with commercial premises at ground level. Valois, Montpensier, and Beaujolais are the names attached to those galleries, linking the hotel's street to the larger ensemble. A walk here moves between formal architecture, garden paths, and contemporary art.

Daniel Buren's black-and-white columns occupy the Cour d'Honneur, while Pol Bury's kinetic fountains reflect the surrounding buildings. The garden also has Michel Goulet's sculptural benches, Les Confidents. These are public spaces beyond the hotel, with their own history and access arrangements. They give a short neighborhood walk plenty to take in without making it a full museum visit.

The hotel holds Green Key certification and describes specific measures behind it. Guests can choose not to replace towels daily, while low-energy lighting and thermostats form part of its energy management. A sponsored hive with Bee Happy Miel supplies honey for the breakfast buffet. The hotel also works with Les Hôtels Solidaires, which collects unused hygiene products and uneaten pastries for redistribution. Its environmental commitments cover housekeeping, purchasing, and food service across the property.

Charles de Gaulle and Orly are the principal airport options, with private transfers arranged separately through the hotel. There is no scheduled hotel airport shuttle. Road travel depends on traffic, especially when crossing central Paris. Valet parking is available for guests arriving by car; the hotel does not have self-parking. Once at Rue de Valois, the Louvre and Palais Royal form the immediate neighborhood, with the river and Tuileries extending the walking routes beyond it.
