The Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique is located on the Pacific Coast. With hillside and ocean views, the setting here seems almost surreal. As soon as you set foot on the property, you will experience a sense of calm and relaxation. This is not just another luxurious retreat. It blends into its surroundings and offers excellent Waldorf Astoria service.
The resort sits on Costa Rica's North Pacific Coast in the Blue Zone of the Nicoya Peninsula. The hotel's opening marks the first step in a big multi-phase project. This plan includes a variety of resorts, homes, and wellness experiences located on the 600-acre Punta Cacique site.
Hilton has made its mark in this growing community. The resort's terraces cascade 300 feet down from the peninsula's crest to the beach. The earthy browns and rock greys used throughout reflect seasonal changes in the area. Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos, based in Mexico City, designed them.
The resort's design also follows the curves of the coast, allowing guests to enjoy breathtaking views and sunsets over the Pacific.
This design pays tribute to the Chorotega, an indigenous people of Costa Rica. In addition to meditation spaces, the Spa features rituals using volcanic clay and other natural elements.
Moreover, a variety of hot tubs are placed under the budding foliage. A large spa pool has its own quiet spot away from the noise, and seating is readily available around the pool.
The hotel is located just south of the Papagayo Peninsula. Liberia Airport is about a 30-minute drive from San José, but you cannot fly directly there. It is a minimum of a 3.5-hour journey along a winding road.
Moreover, Costa Rica's beaches are all public, and the atmosphere at Playa Penca on weekends is great. You'll also find locals grilling food and playing music. This also means that there are jet ski rental stations. The property is also 17 miles from the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport. Guests can also arrange a later time to tour the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano.
On the mountainside, 148 rooms and 40 suites are arranged on different levels that descend to the sea. The location of some suites is also ideal. They provide clear ocean views. Sailboats glide through the waters, visible through floor-to-ceiling windows.
The open-plan living room has neutral-colored furniture. It also includes rattan storage areas and textured walls. Moreover, the pivot doors, large terraces, and warm lights in each room create a smooth flow from indoors to outdoors.
There are also other room types, such as the Bahia Suites, that feature plunge pools, furnished balconies, and lush foliage. There is also the spacious three-bedroom Pacifico Suite. This suite is ideal for large families who want to enjoy both indoor and outdoor living.
In the resort's most exclusive area, a bi-level Presidential Suite nestles on a hillside. Two-bedroom options offer an infinity pool, fire pits, and a rooftop terrace filled with lush greenery. Additionally, the ensuite bathroom has dual vanities. It also features an oversized rain shower and two freestanding bathtubs.
Each of the six culinary concepts at this hotel pays homage to Costa Rica's rich land and marine bounty.
Chef Nicolas Piatti carefully selects quality ingredients from across the nation. He aims to showcase the richness and diversity of culinary traditions. Chorotega salt is also used in the kitchen to enhance flavors and utilize natural resources.
Tico-Tica is an all-day restaurant. It serves a Costa Rican-style breakfast. Guests can enjoy gallo pinto, fried eggs, plantains, and grilled steak. Additionally, La Finca focuses on coastal cuisine, with a focus on Pacific seafood.
Lunch at Vida Pool & Grill features Latin-inspired dishes. Enjoy grilled Mahi Mahi with sweet plantains and rice.
Buena Nota Bakery & Coffee Shop is also a place where a coffee boost can be anything but normal. This sleek café features Costa Rica's best-loved coffee beans. All are grown in sustainable, fair-trade plantations across eight regions.
Moreover, Copo y Cono Ice Cream Shop is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth. Peacock Alley Bar is also a great place to end your night with a cocktail. Ingredients such as raw sugarcane and dandelion are used to make these cocktails.
The hotel's Spa spans 17,000 square feet. It uses healing ingredients like volcanic clay, cacao, and local plants. The Trapiche ritual is also a healing experience. It includes a sugar scrub for exfoliation, cane honey wraps for detoxification, and a body massage.
It is impossible to resist falling into a deep sleep as the echoes of the bowls and wildlife sounds come from above. The resort also offers daily outdoor yoga sessions, meditations, and a fitness center.
The Waldorf Astoria Punta Cacique also offers five ADA-compliant rooms. Three of them have double beds, and the other two have king beds.
The resort bases its culinary and design program on sustainability. One quarter of the food comes from Guanacaste farms and coastal waters. Moreover, Costa Rica has awarded the hotel with its "Bandera Azul Ecologica Award" for its environmental practices. The hotel's living roofs, native plants, and water pond boost biodiversity. They also help with erosion control and protect the environment.
Even children and adolescents can enjoy the property. The Kids Club is for kids ages 4 to 12. It offers fun art and sports programs that help them grow. Indoor and outdoor play areas are also designed to stimulate learning and fun. The Teens Club is open for children aged 13 to 17. It offers a cozy, fun place for older kids. They can relax, interact, and enjoy self-expression activities.
The Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique offers a unique hotel experience. The panoramic views, rooms, and committed staff combine to create a luxurious atmosphere. This is the kind of place that lets you disconnect completely from everyday noise.
