The Premium Beachfront Suite invites guests to relax in luxury by the ocean. These spacious suites come with either beach-level access or an upper-floor balcony....

A lagoon-style freshwater pool brings another swimming setting into the grounds. Heated water, a cascading waterfall, shaded loungers, and poolside service give it a character of its own. The main pool is shared by resort guests; the smaller plunge pools belong to the Gauguin Cottages. Along the beach, loungers and towels are provided, with the west-facing shoreline also setting the scene for sunset.

Non-motorized water sports include kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and sailing. Hobie Cat instruction is available from the water sports team, and the resort provides snorkeling equipment. Guests can snorkel from the beach or arrange a separate snorkeling trip through the tour desk. Sailing and paddling bring a view of the shoreline from offshore, with the water sports team on hand to introduce guests to the equipment.

Room categories differ in their relationship to the beach as much as in size. Deluxe Beachfront Rooms occupy the upper level and measure 400 square feet. Their private balconies look toward the sea, with a king bed inside and a walk-in shower and walk-in closet beyond. The balcony is the outdoor sitting space here, so these rooms do not have the direct sand access of the patio-level category.

Superior Deluxe Beachfront Rooms measure 465 square feet and have sliding glass doors opening onto a private patio with chaise lounges. From there, guests can step straight onto the sand. Light wood and natural finishes keep the interiors simple, with the king bed facing the ocean. Bathrooms have a walk-in shower, and an additional private outdoor shower extends the room's connection to the open air.

Premium Beachfront Suites offer 645 square feet, including a sunken living area and wet bar. Ground-level suites open directly onto the beach, while upper-floor suites have private balconies and vaulted ceilings. Bathrooms contain both a soaking tub and double showers.

Set between the beach and lagoon, the 600-square-foot Gauguin Cottages take a different approach. Each has a private sundeck and plunge pool, a king bed, a living area with a wet bar, and a bathroom with a dressing area. The garden setting is central to their appeal, and they are not the direct beachfront option. Their private pool and deck create a self-contained outdoor space alongside the shared beach and resort pool.

Across the accommodations, king beds are standard, as are air conditioning and ceiling fans. Coffee and tea facilities, a stocked minibar, and bathrobes are provided, with housekeeping and turndown service part of the daily routine. The consistent amenities leave the outdoor setting as a deciding factor: an elevated sea view, a patio opening onto the sand, or a cottage deck around a private pool.

Dining and drinks are central to Galley Bay's all-inclusive format, though Ismay's carries a separate surcharge. Sea Grape is an open-air beachfront restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast takes an international approach; lunch draws on Mediterranean and Asian influences, while dinner has a European direction. Afternoon tea is also served here. The recurring Caribbean barbecue, accompanied by steel-pan music, adds a distinctly local note to the restaurant's repertoire.

At Gauguin Restaurant, tables sit in individual thatched cabanas beside the sea. It serves Caribbean-style breakfast and European-Caribbean dishes at lunch and dinner, with candlelight changing the mood after sunset. Dinner reservations are required. The small cabana setting makes this one of the resort's most distinctive places to eat: the roof is overhead, the sides remain open, and the beach is immediately beside the table.

Ismay's occupies an open-air, timber-framed setting on the beachfront. Its European-led dinner menu draws in part on ingredients from the resort's hydroponic garden. It opens on selected evenings, requires reservations, and is charged separately from the all-inclusive dining.

For a lighter meal, Barefoot Grill serves casual food beside the beach, with tables under thatched umbrellas. Upcycle Café is an air-conditioned stop for coffee and sweet or savory bites, built using repurposed materials. The two venues give the daytime dining a more informal side, from lunch near the sand to a coffee break indoors. In the main restaurants, evenings follow an elegant-casual dress code.

The Rum Shack's reclaimed wood and galvanized roof suit its beach-bar character. Guided tastings explore local and international rums, while the resort's other bars include the conical-roofed Tee Pee Bar and Sea Grape Bar. Live music is part of the evening program, including Caribbean sounds. Movie nights take place on the beach, with personal headsets for the soundtrack. Away from the bars, garden tours introduce the property's flowers, plants, and vegetable and herb garden. Cooking demonstrations share recipes and techniques, with a tasting of the finished dish.

Indulge Spa sits in a garden at the edge of the lagoon. Its menu covers massages, facials, and body treatments, including a couples' coconut treatment that moves from a grated-coconut polish to a coconut-milk wrap and oil massage. Other treatments use herbs harvested from the spa garden. Appointments are charged separately, and the setting draws attention to the inland side of the property, with its planted grounds and lagoon, as well as the beach.

A walking and cycling trail loops around the lagoon, and resort bicycles are available for use on the property. A synthetic-grass tennis court, fitness center, and beach-facing yoga pavilion add structured exercise to the outdoor activities. Tennis lessons can be arranged at an extra charge. There is also an open-air games pavilion beneath a thatched roof, with table tennis and a pool table, while croquet and beach volleyball extend the choice outdoors.

V. C. Bird International Airport is approximately 20 minutes away by car, and St. John's is about a 10-minute taxi ride, depending on traffic. Airport transport is arranged separately through transfer providers or taxis; the resort does not operate its own airport service. Beyond the grounds, guest services can arrange excursions to places such as Nelson's Dockyard and Shirley Heights. These island outings are separate from the resort's included activities.
