Hotel del Coronado's red-roofed Victorian silhouette rises above the wide Pacific beach, with downtown San Diego across the bay. Rooms and suites occupy three main neighborhoods. The Victorian is the original building, where room shapes vary and the design draws on the Victorian era. Its Oceanfront Balcony rooms have a private balcony and walk-in shower, with either a king bed for two guests or two queen beds for four. Garden and resort views are also available within this historic wing.
The Cabanas cluster around the central pool and near Sun Deck. Pool View rooms overlook the water from a balcony, while selected beachfront categories open onto terraces with fire pits. King rooms with sofa beds and two-queen rooms accommodate different family sizes. The neighborhood's poolside setting brings the social life of the resort close to the room.
The Views has a contemporary coastal design, with resort-view as well as ocean-facing categories. Its Oceanfront Suite measures 800 square feet and sleeps up to three with a king bed and sofa bed. Beachside Terrace with Fire Pit rooms have their own outdoor sitting area near the sand.
Beach Village at The Del and Shore House at The Del are separately branded LXR Hotels & Resorts properties within the wider resort. Each has its own arrival arrangements and facilities reserved for its guests. Beach Village consists of cottages and villas, with dedicated pools and hot tubs. The 830-square-foot Beachfront Fireside Cottage has a king bedroom, marble bathroom, full kitchen and living room with a fireplace and sofa bed. Outside is a beachfront terrace with a fire pit. Smaller Cottage Room and Villa Room categories should not be assumed to have the same kitchen and living-room layout.
Shore House has guestrooms alongside one-, two- and three-bedroom villas. The Oceanfront Guestroom measures 388 square feet, with a veranda and walk-in shower. The Oceanfront Villa starts at 800 square feet and adds a full kitchen, dining table, living room and washer-dryer, with a king bed and queen sofa bed for up to four guests. Larger villas bring multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, including two-level loft layouts. Shore House's oceanfront pool and Bistro are reserved for Shore House guests; Beach Village has its own guest-only dining, including Breezes. Main-hotel guests do not have automatic access to these areas.
Veranda recalls the hotel's original wraparound porch, where guests gathered to take in the sea air. The restaurant serves American cooking with Southern California influences and has outdoor tables overlooking the Pacific. Breakfast is a buffet, while dinner brings a more leisurely restaurant setting.
Nobu Del Coronado serves Japanese-Peruvian cuisine in an indoor dining room and on a covered outdoor patio. A dedicated sushi bar and pagoda bar give the restaurant several settings within the same venue. Sushi and sashimi sit alongside Nobu signatures such as black cod with miso. Its position overlooking the ocean gives this internationally known restaurant a distinctly Coronado backdrop.
Serẽa centers on seafood under chef JoJo Ruiz, with a raw bar and produce from Southern California growers. The outdoor bar serves cocktails, local beers and wine, while the restaurant accommodates dinner and weekend brunch. Fresh fish and seasonal ingredients guide the menu.
For a less formal meal, Sun Deck serves coastal favorites and cocktails, and Beach & Taco Shack keeps tacos close to the sand. ENO Market & Pizzeria combines an Italian-style market with pizza, while Sundaes serves gelato and paletas. Babcock & Story Bar carries the names of the hotel's founders into an evening setting for drinks and small plates. These venues span seated meals, beach lunches and food to take away.
The main Cabana Pool is reserved for overnight guests, with loungers and cabanas available to reserve. Resort pools are heated year-round. Along the beach, Del Beach rents chairs, umbrellas and daybeds. Ocean swimming depends on surf conditions and current water-quality advisories; the beachfront setting does not guarantee suitable water conditions every day. The sand also leaves plenty of room for a shoreline walk without entering the water.
Ocean Explorers Kids Club runs supervised, ocean-inspired sessions for children ages four to 12, with half-day and full-day options. Private in-room childcare is arranged through itavi. Connecting rooms are bookable, and cribs can be requested, subject to availability. The hotel also has a guest fitness center with cardio and strength equipment, plus group classes including beach yoga.
The spa has an ocean-view pool and outdoor terrace, alongside relaxation lounges, steam rooms and hot tubs. Massage, facial and body-treatment appointments give access to the spa facilities; salon-only appointments require a separate facility fee. Treatments range from aromatherapy massage to body scrubs and wraps, and couples can book a private Couples Suite. Hair and nail services are available in the salon. Spa services welcome guests from age 14, with parental consent and a parent on-site for anyone 17 or younger. Teen appointments also follow provider and swimwear requirements, so they need to be arranged with the spa.
The Del is a National Historic Landmark, and its connection with film is part of that identity: Some Like It Hot used the hotel as a setting. The Ice House Museum is the starting point for docent-led walks through the Victorian building and gardens. Self-guided audio tours draw on letters, records and oral histories from former guests and staff. They offer a closer look at the people behind the familiar red turrets, beyond the view seen from the beach.
San Diego International Airport is across the bay. The hotel estimates a 15-minute drive, though traffic can extend the journey, particularly on the approach to Coronado. Valet and self-parking are available on-site. Orange Avenue gives the stay a walkable neighborhood beyond the hotel grounds, while trips into downtown San Diego take you across the bay from this Pacific-facing stretch of Coronado.
