The Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort is in the Al Hajar Mountains of Oman. It offers a great experience. It is also one of the highest resorts in the world, promising an escape with canyon views and world-class service. This 5 stars resort is a great place to relax and enjoy adventure, with its infinity pools, spa treatments, and mountain tours. Discover what makes this property a fantastic destination.
Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort is one of two Anantara resorts in Oman. The other is in Salalah, in the south. It is only a couple of hours away from Muscat and offers easy access to some of Oman's best attractions.
Moreover, Birkat al Mouz, with its crumbling mud houses and banana plantations, is 40 minutes away. Nizwa is a town that has a beautiful fort and a Nizwa Souk. It's only a 30-minute drive away. The Bahla Fort is also nearby, making it an excellent stop for history lovers.
The Hajar Mountains, Oman's highest mountain range, which is over 2,000 meters high (6,500 feet), are visible from the hotel. A two-hour drive will take you to the resort from Muscat International Airport. Visitors require one hour to see Oman's capital and historic city, Nizwa. However, there is no public transport available to reach the resort. A four-wheel drive is necessary to traverse the mountainous roads.
A flat area called the Saiq Plateau is also close to the hotel. The region has a perfect Mediterranean microclimate. Each spring, fruit blossoms, like the Damask rose, bloom. Moreover, a two-and-a-half-mile walk departing from the hotel takes you to the villages of Al Ayn and Ash Shirayjah and a rosewater plant.
The resort is spread out over flat-roofed, squat terracotta structures. Decorators adorn standard rooms with lattice walls, lantern-lit wall niches, and dark wooden doors. Dhofari fragrance also fills the air.
The designers created this resort to maximize the view of the canyon. It is built around herb, veggie, and fruit gardens. An infinity-edge pool runs the length of the cliff, and a balcony offers two views. Diana's Point was named in honor of the princess who visited the resort here in 1986.
The hotel is designed to help you get the most out of its location. The staff is always happy to help, but without becoming overbearing. They can either arrange for you to explore independently with some instructions and maps or guide you. The activities include guided walks to the traditional villages of the hills and introductions by rose farmers. Zip-lining, archery, and via ferrata are also available.
The spa is the highlight of this hotel. It has a minimal Arabian decor and uses local ingredients like pomegranate and rose water.
There are 115 luxury rooms and villas. All standard rooms and private pool villas have a canyon view and floor-to-ceiling windows. They also come with a balcony. These rooms may not be huge, but they are comfortable, with small chaise lounges and plenty of seating. They also have the same understated look as the resort's communal areas but a more modern, international style.
Middle Eastern influences are evident in the studded wood cabinets, the latticed heads, and the pointed arches. Each bathroom has a bath, a shower, and an incense burner. It also comes with top-quality Anantara products made from the same ingredients used in the Anantara Spa.
Each villa includes a dedicated Villa Host service, available to assist you throughout your stay.
There aren't many other dining options in the area, so you may have to eat all your meals inside. There are three excellent restaurants and two bars that serve light snacks. Al Maisan offers a breakfast buffet with a variety of cuisines. Bella Vista offers Italian fare, while Al Qalaa is a Middle Eastern restaurant with decor reminiscent of a desert fort. Moreover, Al Baha serves cakes and light sandwiches, while Al Burj is perfect for cocktails or shisha.
Al Maisan is an international restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner. Both meals are served with an extensive buffet. Meals include local Arabic food as well as other cuisines. Moreover, the dining room, with floor-to-ceiling windows, offers stunning mountain views. You can also sit in the sun and enjoy your breakfast.
This Italian restaurant, located near Diana's Point, offers both indoor and outdoor seating, along with a unique experience. The seafood and steak are fresh and tasty. In addition to the wool ponchos loaned to customers, heat lamps are available outside to keep guests warm on cold days or nights.
This resort also offers many activities beyond just enjoying the view and Omani cuisine. It has a kids' club, a teen club, a tennis court, and a basketball court. To remain active, you can also enjoy various activities within and outside the resort. Besides, you can learn about Oman's culture and discover the region's wonders.
Choose from a range of options, including stargazing on the top floor of the fort or watching movies in the evening. You can also try yoga, cycling, and tennis. Painting and photography are also available. Enjoy walking tours to nearby villages and cultural excursions.
Anantara can also take you to some of the most beautiful places in Oman, such as the Wahiba Sands and Jebel Shams. If you don't have a vehicle with 4-wheel drive capability or would rather let someone else drive, you can take a guided trip.
The Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort will leave you with a lasting impression. The resort sits on a cliff, overlooking the canyon. It offers world-class amenities and a warm Omani welcome. Together, these features create the perfect stay. This 5-star resort offers the ideal balance of relaxation and adventure. You can relax by the pool, enjoy the spa, and explore the Al Hajar Mountains. The fantastic views, excellent service, and dining experience will make your time worth it.
