The Dylan Amsterdam

The Dylan Amsterdam is located along the prestigious Keizersgracht Canal. It invites guests into an environment where thoughtful design and hospitality combine. You'll feel like you have found a special place from the minute you enter the courtyard. This luxury hotel appeals to travelers who value style and personal touches. Read on to learn more about this property.

Overview

The Dylan Amsterdam hotel is housed in a historical building. It's on a property that runs alongside a canal. In the interior, modern and classic furnishings are combined for a high-end style. Wood-plank flooring complements the wall panels in the lobby lounge. Leather seats also surround a fireplace.

Moreover, in the marble corridors, ceilings are adorned with moldings. White walls and fresh paint create a bright look. Vinkeles, a Michelin-starred restaurant, is also a must-see. Located in a former 18th-century bakery, it features exposed brick flooring, bakers' ovens, and dark wooden beam ceilings.

The hotel's location is ideal for both business and leisure travelers. However, couples are the most frequent guests.

Location

The Dylan Hotel is in the center of Amsterdam. It overlooks Amsterdam's Keizersgracht Canal. It is also located within the famous Canal Ring. Moreover, the area is home to a mixture of trendy shops, private residences, and local businesses.

Many attractions are also within walking distance. These include art galleries, the Anne Frank House, and Dam Square. The Van Gogh Museum is also nearby. Keizergracht Tram Stop is a six-minute walk away. Guests can also hire a bicycle from the hotel for a more local experience.

The Flower Market is five minutes away. The Amsterdam Museum is a 7-minute walk. The Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is also 35 minutes away by public transportation.

Service & Facilities

The staff are very attentive and friendly without being intrusive. A small gym is available at the hotel. It includes a bike, a cross-trainer, and a weight machine. A courtyard lined with trees and shaded by them is also an oasis from the bustling city.

This is a boutique hotel, so there are only a few facilities. However, the three excellent restaurants make up for the lack of other services.

Rooms

There are 41 guest rooms and suites. These spaces range from lofts with high ceilings to sleek, minimalist spaces with Asian touches. You'll also find cozy, chic rooms that have wood wardrobes and plush, button-tufted chairs. The bathrooms are also simple but feature separate rain showers and bathtubs.

Moreover, the rooms range from small singles to large suites that look like apartments. The rooms also come with air conditioning, LCD TVs, and Bose Bluetooth sound systems. They also have free Wi-Fi and coffee/tea machines (like upscale espresso machines).

The bathrooms feature makeup and hair mirrors. They also come with James Heely products, slippers, and bathrobes. The 24-hour room service includes local delights, and the nightly turndown offers treats.

Some guests suggest paying more for a room with a canal view. The hotel has refurbished more than half of the rooms since 2010. Plans are to renovate the remaining rooms over the next few years.

Dining

Jürgen Van der Zalm is the executive chef of Vinkeles. He stunned fine diners with his ability not only to retain Vinkeles' Michelin Star but also to achieve a 2nd within one year. The Anjou Pigeon, with roses and chocolatey Cusco chuncho bean sauce, is legendary.

The Occo Brasserie is a more relaxed restaurant. You can find a ceviche that perfectly balances tart lime with fish, sweet mango, and a splash of fishy explosions. True foodies head to the "ate" chef's dining table, which is hidden behind the wood paneling.

Occo serves breakfast with a variety of options, including avocado toast, overnight oats, and pancakes. Other interesting choices include Spanish eggs Benedict or a traditional Japanese breakfast.

A select buffet is also available. In the relaxed lounge bar, you can enjoy cocktails. It has Eames-style barstools and dark wood. One highlight is a tangy non-alcoholic gin made in the cellars.

Restaurant Vinkeles

This restaurant is located within The Dylan. Since 2009, this Michelin-starred restaurant has set the standard for fine dining. The restaurant is in a cozy room. 18th-century wood-fired ovens surround it. These ovens used to belong to a bakery for the Catholic Poor People's Office.

The restaurant's executive chefs craft modern French dishes. They focus on fresh ingredients and bold flavors. They balance classic culinary tradition with contemporary creativity to create refined dishes.

Bar Brasserie Occo

Bar Brasserie Occo is a diverse restaurant. It offers a laid-back dining vibe from morning to night. It's a space that shifts from morning treats like brioche French toast to evening bites like garlic shrimp. Studio Linse designed this space with its marble tables, velvet sofas, and brass lights.

Moreover, High Wine is Occo's trademark offering. It's a fun twist on the traditional afternoon tea. Four wines are paired with carefully matched amuse-bouches. High Wine is served in a stylish setting.

Area

Keizersgracht is located in Amsterdam's Negen Straatjes shopping district (Nine Streets). This part of Amsterdam is only 15 minutes away from the museum area. It also has a more relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.

You will also find independent shops and cafés. Moreover, the famous Noordermarkt-Boerenmarkt is a vintage and farmers' market in the area. It is open on Saturday and Monday mornings.

Takeaway

The warm, intimate atmosphere at Dylan Amsterdam makes it challenging to leave. It's like saying goodbye to the warm, cozy home of a close friend. This hotel is a hidden gem. It offers a luxurious stay while still making you feel at home. You'll feel relaxed as you walk the canals of Amsterdam, dine at hotel restaurants, or enjoy some quiet time in your room. This is a place you won't forget, even after checking out.
