The Miramare has welcomed travelers since 1903 and has been owned and run by the Fustinoni family since 1945. Its history follows Santa Margherita's development from a fishing town into an established Riviera destination. Guglielmo Marconi stayed here while conducting radio experiments from the hotel terrace, and a suite still carries his name. The family connection remains part of the hotel's identity, alongside the Liberty-style architecture and its long association with life by the sea.

Contemporary art gives the interiors a less predictable character than the historic facade might suggest. The owners' miramART collection occupies walls and corridors, placing installations and individual works within the everyday spaces of the hotel. It is a personal collection that continues to develop, rather than a fixed period display. The contrast is visible as guests move through the building, where contemporary pieces share space with the older architecture.

The hotel has 71 rooms and suites, with garden or sea views. Superior Rooms measure 20 to 23 square meters and have balconies facing the gardens and Mount Portofino. Premium Rooms offer 24 to 32 square meters, also with garden-facing balconies. Both categories accommodate two guests. The garden side has its own outlook over the estate's planting, separate from the open-water views at the front.

Deluxe Rooms measure 19 to 27 square meters, with full or partial sea views and balconies in some rooms. Prestige Rooms, at 24 to 28 square meters, have sea-view balconies. Junior Suite Sea View accommodation expands to 45 square meters, with a lounge and partially separated sleeping area. These suites have a sofa bed and walk-in shower; just one has a balcony.

In the gardens, a separate cottage contains two Junior Suites that can be connected or reserved individually. Each measures 34 square meters and has an open-plan bedroom, a sitting area with a sofa bed, and a bathroom with a shower cabin. The layout accommodates two adults and two children, or three adults. A terrace extends the space outside, while wood floors, paneling, and pastel wallpaper give the cottage interiors a distinct character.

Connecting rooms and suites elsewhere in the hotel can also create larger family arrangements, with cribs available on request. Reserving both cottage suites provides two bathrooms and separate sleeping areas for a larger party, within the garden annex.

Signature Suite Marconi sits above the hotel's panoramic terrace, with a balcony facing Tigullio Bay. Its 43 square meters contain a bedroom and a separate living area, both displaying pieces from the owner's art collection. There are two marble bathrooms; the larger has a bathtub and a separate shower. The suite is intended for two guests, with a double bed or twin arrangement. Its appeal lies in the divided layout and terrace-side position as much as its historic name.

The outdoor seawater pool has rounded, 1970s-style curves and a setting among oleanders and pine trees. Loungers, umbrellas, and towels are provided around it, with the Berceau pergola offering shade nearby. The pool operates seasonally, from spring into fall. The hillside planting rises behind the pool area, while the sea remains in view beyond the gardens.

Bagni Miramare occupies the waterfront directly in front of the hotel. Blue-and-white striped umbrellas line the beach, with loungers and towels available to hotel guests. Spaces are assigned daily on a first-come, first-served basis, so a particular spot is not reserved for the whole stay.

Paths continue through the garden toward the lower slopes of Mount Portofino. The Sentimental Walk passes century-old red camellias and climbs to the estate's highest point, with views across the gulf. Hydrangeas and mature trees add color and shade along the way.

Vistamare Restaurant opens onto a sea-view terrace from an Art Nouveau dining room decorated in sky-blue tones. Chef Claudio Fortuna works with seasonal and regional ingredients, giving Ligurian cooking international touches. The restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, taking on lunch service outside the pool restaurant's season. Breakfast combines a buffet of sweet, savory, and cooked dishes with homemade pastries; additional à la carte choices are available. Dinner has a more dressed-up atmosphere, with long trousers requested for gentlemen.

Bar Le Colonne is an evening venue during the summer season. Its counter incorporates altar panels, while the columns that give the bar its name frame a terrace furnished with white wrought-iron tables and chairs. Classic cocktails accompany a broad view across Tigullio Bay. The interior's decorative detail and the open terrace offer two settings for an aperitif before dinner.

The seasonal Pool Restaurant & Bar serves coffee, light refreshments, cocktails, and summer lunches, including grilled meat and seafood. Wrought-iron tables sit under a pergola and in sheltered alcoves, surrounded by flowers and climbing plants. Covered beachwear suits the setting. It is a dining space within the pool gardens, where lunch can take place without changing the focus of the day from swimming and time outdoors.

Barracuda Beach Restaurant has a different position, directly by the shore. Teak tables, rattan chairs, and light curtains furnish its panoramic lounge. Mediterranean cooking centers on fresh fish and pasta, with gelato rounding out a summer lunch. Covered beachwear is welcome here. The shoreline setting keeps passing boats and the water close to the tables.

At e'SPA'ce, the treatment menu includes Thalion facials, body scrubs, traditional massage, and aromatherapy massage. Garden massages can be arranged for an outdoor appointment, and beauty services include manicures, pedicures, and hair care. The menu also lists individual or paired training sessions, including Pilates, yoga, and swimming lessons. Gym access is restricted to guests ages 18 and older. Appointments and guided sessions are arranged with the team, distinct from independent exercise in the fitness center.

Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport is approximately 42 kilometers away, while Pisa Airport is around 140 kilometers from the hotel. Santa Margherita Ligure's railway station is about one kilometer away. By car, the usual approach is from the A12's Rapallo exit, continuing toward Santa Margherita and Portofino. The waterfront address allows the stay to include town walks as well as time at the hotel, with Portofino farther along the coast.
