Yndo Hotel

YNDO Hotel is a distinctive five-star retreat in the heart of Bordeaux, created for travelers who value privacy, personality and a strong sense of place. Set within a restored 19th-century mansion, the hotel feels far removed from the scale and formality of a conventional city property. With just 20 rooms and suites, it offers an intimate atmosphere where guests can settle in quickly and enjoy spaces that feel residential, artistic and deeply individual.

The hotel stands at 108 rue de l'Abbé de l'Épée, within Bordeaux's celebrated architectural landscape. Behind its historic stone façade, guests discover a bold and highly personal interior. Classical details remain visible throughout the townhouse, yet they are combined with contemporary furniture, sculptural lighting, rich materials and unexpected color. The result is not a museum-like restoration, but a living hotel filled with warmth, imagination and character.

Owner Agnès Guiot du Doignon has shaped every aspect of YNDO according to her own creative instinct. A self-taught interior designer, she has transformed the mansion into what can best be described as a hotel gallery. Every room carries her signature, but no two spaces follow the same formula. This freedom from uniformity is central to the YNDO experience.

A Hotel Designed as a Living Gallery

Art and design are not decorative additions at YNDO. They form the heart of the hotel's identity. Furniture, lighting, ceramics, mirrors, textiles and architectural details have been selected as individual works, often created by respected designers, artists and specialist artisans.

Guests may encounter furniture by Edra, Damien Langlois, Christophe Delcourt, De La Espada, Silvera or Collection Particulière. A Murano vase may sit on a poetic console by Hubert Le Gall, while sculptural lighting by William Guillon brings a dramatic, almost mysterious quality to a room. Papier à Êtres contributes delicate luminous sculptures made from paper, while bathroom fittings by Antonio Lupi add clean contemporary lines.

This combination of creators gives the hotel an eclectic personality. Materials, periods and colors are placed together with confidence. Soft velvet may appear beside raw wood, polished stone, bronze or hand-finished metal. Some rooms are calm and restrained, while others are playful, theatrical or deeply expressive.

Agnès does not approach design through rigid rules. She relies on intuition and allows each space to develop its own identity. The hotel therefore rewards curiosity. Guests notice new details as they move through the lounges, dining room, corridors, garden and guest rooms. A handle, a lamp or a small ceramic object may reveal the same level of care as a large piece of furniture.

Rooms and Suites with Individual Character

YNDO Hotel offers several room and suite categories, each designed with a different mood and spatial experience. Although the categories provide guidance on size and facilities, the character of each room remains unique.

The Secret Room measures approximately 25 square meters and overlooks an English courtyard. It includes a king-size bed, an Italian shower and access to a terrace. Its secluded position gives it a particularly private atmosphere.

The Cosy rooms range from approximately 25 to 30 square meters. They feature king-size or super king-size beds and Italian showers, while terraces may be available on request. These rooms are designed for guests who appreciate comfort and intimacy without needing the space of a larger suite.

Crazy Executive Rooms offer up to 40 square meters. Depending on the individual room, the bathroom may include a shower, a bathtub or both. Their design is more expressive, with strong forms, sculptural furniture and distinctive color combinations.

The So Chic Junior Suites measure approximately 45 to 50 square meters. They include king-size or super king-size beds, along with both a shower and a bathtub. Their larger layouts create space for sitting areas, statement furniture and carefully composed decorative details.

At the top of the collection, the YNDO Suites provide approximately 65 square meters. These spacious accommodations include super king-size beds, Italian showers and bathtubs. They bring together generous proportions, artistic interiors and the feeling of a private apartment within the mansion.

Across all categories, guests have access to practical comforts such as coffee and tea facilities, a minibar, mineral water, a safety box and turndown service. These details support the experience without distracting from the hotel's strong visual identity.

Eight New Rooms and Suites

YNDO has continued to evolve with the addition of eight new rooms and suites. These newer spaces remain faithful to the hotel's original philosophy while introducing fresh collaborations with designers, artists and local craftspeople.

The rooms highlight the contrast between contemporary design and the historic structure of the property. Exposed beams, large circular windows, natural wood, sculptural headboards and richly patterned stone create interiors that feel both modern and connected to the building.

Several Bordeaux-based creators contributed to these spaces. William Guillon, known for radical and organic forms, produced functional sculptures in bronze and other carefully worked materials. Papier à Êtres created poetic paper lighting that gives certain rooms a gentle and dreamlike quality. Atelier Syko produced custom furniture in wood, while Design&Matières helped bring together aesthetics, technical requirements and practical comfort.

Other details come from bonnemazou-cambus, whose decorative hardware includes handles, plates and architectural fittings made in France by small artisan businesses. La Métallerie Bordelaise contributed custom metalwork, while Silvera brought access to a broad range of French and international design furniture. Belull added another contemporary dimension with furniture made from upcycled carbon fiber.

These collaborations make the new rooms feel more like individual design projects than standardized hotel accommodations. Each one has its own colors, shapes, textures and focal points.

GENELUX: Generosity Meets Luxury

The hotel's hospitality philosophy is expressed through the word "GENELUX," a concept created by Agnès to describe the meeting of generosity and luxury. At YNDO, luxury is not treated as distance, ceremony or formality. It is expressed through personal attention, warmth and an understanding of what makes each guest comfortable.

The small scale of the hotel allows the team to personalize the stay. Service feels attentive without becoming intrusive. Guests are welcomed into the mansion almost as though they were entering a private home, but they still receive the professional care expected from a five-star property.

Agnès herself remains closely involved in the guest experience. She spends time with visitors and may occasionally cook for them. Her presence gives the property a genuine sense of ownership and personality. Rather than following a corporate script, the hotel reflects the values and tastes of the person who created it.

This personal approach extends to the atmosphere of the public spaces. The lounges invite guests to sit, read, talk or enjoy a drink. The furniture is visually striking, but the rooms are not designed only to be admired. They are comfortable places intended to be used and enjoyed.

Dining in a Residential Setting

YNDO includes a restaurant and dining spaces that continue the hotel's residential character. Meals are experienced within interiors shaped by art, design and historic architecture. The atmosphere is intimate, making dining feel closer to being welcomed into an elegant private home than entering a large formal restaurant.

The same attention to detail seen in the rooms continues at the table. Carefully chosen objects, distinctive furniture and a sense of personal hospitality create an environment where food becomes part of the wider YNDO experience.

Breakfast is particularly suited to the hotel's unhurried mood. Guests can begin the day in a comfortable setting surrounded by color, texture and individual design pieces. The emphasis is not only on what is served, but on how the moment feels.

The Jardin des Senteurs and Shaded Terrace

One of the hotel's most appealing features is the Jardin des Senteurs. This green space brings calm and softness to the historic property, offering guests a private outdoor refuge within the city.

The garden and shaded terrace extend the interior experience into the open air. Stone walls, mature greenery and carefully selected outdoor furniture create a peaceful setting for breakfast, a drink or a quiet pause during the day. Bright umbrellas and contemporary seating add personality without overwhelming the natural surroundings.

This outdoor space reinforces the sense that YNDO is a private urban home rather than a conventional city hotel. Despite its central location, the property protects a feeling of serenity and seclusion.

Private Meetings in a Creative Environment

YNDO also includes a meeting room for groups of up to 14 people. The space follows the same design philosophy as the rest of the hotel, with custom furniture, carefully selected objects and a calm residential atmosphere.

It is well suited to small meetings, private discussions or creative gatherings that benefit from discretion. Rather than placing guests in a standard corporate conference room, YNDO offers a setting that feels personal, comfortable and visually inspiring.

The YNDO Experience at Cap Ferret

The YNDO world extends beyond Bordeaux through two private retreats at Cap Ferret. These properties translate Agnès's design language into a coastal setting shaped by oyster-farming villages, wooden cabins and the changing colors of the basin.

The YNDO Fisherman's Cabin is located in the oyster-farming village of Piraillan. Measuring approximately 60 square meters, it includes one bedroom, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a terrace of around 20 square meters.

Its design celebrates wood, natural materials and local craftsmanship. Raw oak floors with asymmetrical planks sit beside velvet furniture, wool-upholstered armchairs and rattan pieces. Handmade furniture, custom partitions and artisanal ceramics give the cabin a strong regional identity.

The color palette draws from the estuary, with pale green, sand and blue appearing throughout the interior and exterior. Emerald ceramics cover areas of the bathroom, while a sculptural pewter bathtub creates a striking focal point. Vintage objects and family pieces add memory and emotion to the design.

The second Cap Ferret property is the YNDO Apartment in the fishing village of Canon. It measures approximately 55 square meters and includes two bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, a living room, a fully equipped open kitchen and a panoramic wooden terrace of around 15 square meters.

The terrace features a wine cellar and plancha grill, allowing guests to prepare relaxed meals while enjoying views over the basin and traditional boats. Personal touches, gourmet surprises, wines and champagne help guests settle into the local rhythm from the moment they arrive.

Guests may also have access to a stylish boat inspired by the elegance of Riva. It offers opportunities to explore the Cap Ferret coastline, approach the cabanes tchanquées, admire the Dune of Pilat and experience the basin from the water.

A Singular Expression of Bordeaux Hospitality

YNDO Hotel succeeds because it does not try to resemble any other five-star hotel. It is personal, expressive and constantly evolving. The historic mansion provides elegance and architectural depth, while contemporary art and design prevent the atmosphere from feeling formal or predictable.

Its 20 rooms and suites offer real individuality. Its garden provides calm in the center of Bordeaux. Its restaurant, lounges and meeting room maintain an intimate residential mood. Above all, the GENELUX philosophy ensures that the beauty of the hotel is matched by warmth and generosity.

For travelers who appreciate artistic interiors, personal service and places with a clear identity, YNDO offers far more than accommodation. It presents a complete world shaped by one owner's vision, supported by talented artisans and brought to life through genuine hospitality.
