Best for

Consider Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat if you prefer clay-court tennis, with two courts on site and private coaching available through the hotel.

What makes it special

Book the hotel's chauffeured 2CV tour to explore Villefranche-sur-Mer and Èze in a classic French car, leaving the coastal driving to someone else.

Room to consider

Choose the Palace Pinewood Suite for three adults traveling together, requesting its rollaway bed rather than booking the smaller-capacity Palace Sea-View Suite.

Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat Four Seasons

Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, stands on the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula, between Nice and Monaco, with gardens, sea views, a grand white facade, and Club Dauphin by the water. The hotel has welcomed guests since 1908. Its setting near the tip of the peninsula gives the stay a particular geography: the main house above, gardens spreading around it, and the Mediterranean below the pool terraces.

The property has 75 accommodations, comprising 48 rooms, 24 suites, and three villas. Across the grounds, the scale changes from the shared salons of a Riviera grand hotel to garden terraces and private houses. A clay tennis court and paths through the grounds extend the outdoor space beyond the pool. The villas bring their own grounds and facilities to this wider setting.

The Heritage Building holds rooms and suites facing either pine groves or the Mediterranean. Pierre-Yves Rochon's interiors use white marble and pale fabrics, with a classic French character. Superior Pinewood Rooms measure 27 to 34 square meters; Palace Sea-View Rooms range from 30 to 38 square meters, with terraces in selected rooms. The view and outdoor space are separate choices here, since a sea-facing room does not automatically have a terrace.

Les Terrasses du Cap places more emphasis on outdoor living. Its Deluxe Terrace Rooms have 41 square meters indoors and a nine-square-meter terrace. The ground-level Pool Terrace Suites expand to 82 square meters, with a furnished terrace and private heated pool among the pines. Sliding glass doors open onto the greenery, while a marble bathroom and separate powder room serve the interior. These suites face the pine grove. The Heritage Building's Signature Suites instead offer separate living areas, with large sea-view terraces in selected categories.

Villa Rose Pierre is a four-bedroom house near the Heritage Building, surrounded by its own garden. Four en suite bathrooms, a kitchen, and a television room support a stay with family or friends, while the rooftop terrace looks toward the evening sky. Its private pool and tennis court make outdoor time part of life at the house. There is also an indoor fitness studio and sauna, with a personal attendant available around the clock.

The villa has 550 square meters of indoor space, with garden and Mediterranean views. Meals can take place in the garden, and a chef can be arranged to prepare dinner in the villa kitchen. The arrangement allows a group to gather at home while remaining within the hotel's grounds.

Villa Beauchamp has a different layout, with an adjacent two-bedroom Pavilion providing separate accommodation alongside the main house. A 16-meter private pool sits among pine, fig, laurel, and cypress trees. Indoors, there is a media room, private fitness space, sauna, and hammam. Its kitchen extends outdoors as well, bringing dining close to the pool deck. The master bathroom's mosaic patterns draw on Jean Cocteau's work, a distinctly local detail within the house.

Club Dauphin is central to the hotel's appeal. Perched above the rocky Mediterranean coastline, its heated seawater infinity pool faces the open horizon. A glass funicular makes the descent part of the arrival, with views through the cabin toward the coast. This is a pool club above the rocks, rather than a stretch of sandy beach.

Sun terraces surround the water, and private cabanas can be reserved for a more secluded base. Club Dauphin also welcomes outside visitors by reservation, so it is not solely a hotel-guest space. The sea remains in view from the poolside setting, with the gardens and main hotel higher on the peninsula behind it.

Executive Chef Yoric Tièche draws on his Provençal roots at Le Cap, the hotel's one-Michelin-star restaurant. Mediterranean produce guides the cooking, including ingredients from the hotel gardens. Dinner can unfold in the dining room or on a terrace shaded by Aleppo pines. The wine list has a substantial French collection alongside Italian and Spanish bottles, extending the restaurant's regional focus beyond the plate.

La Véranda takes a more informal approach, with Mediterranean cooking and Italian influences in a Riviera bistro setting. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a children's menu also available. Down by the water, Club Dauphin's Mediterranean grill centers on fresh fish, vegetables, and Provençal flavors, served outdoors beside the pool.

Le Bar offers a choice of the library, terrace, or a seat at the counter for an aperitif. Champagne cocktails and single malts are part of its character. In-room dining is available around the clock, including breakfast on a private terrace where the accommodation has one.

Le Spa has five treatment rooms, including a couple's suite, with two outdoor pavilions extending treatments into the garden. The indoor pool has a countercurrent system, distinct from the seawater pool at Club Dauphin. Saunas, steam rooms, a whirlpool, a sensorial shower, and an ice fountain form the spa's water and heat facilities.

The treatment menu includes massages and facial care using Biologique Recherche and Dr Burgener products. Appointments for two can take place in an outdoor cabana or the Grand Salon. For children twelve and under, spa pool access is limited to designated periods. All children under sixteen must be accompanied by an adult.

Exercise also moves between indoors and out. The outdoor gym faces the sea from the gardens, while private yoga and Pilates sessions can be arranged for one or two people. Tennis lessons take place on clay, and the hotel's running itinerary follows coastal paths around the cap. These paths bring the peninsula's rocky shoreline into a morning run without requiring a trip into Nice or Monaco.

The seasonal Sea Explorers Kids Club welcomes children ages four to twelve, with childcare professionals leading activities. Its pirate-themed wooden village, treetop nets, and shaded outdoor play areas sit among the pines. Indoors, books, imaginative play, arts and crafts, and a cinema space provide a change from outdoor games.

Children under four can attend with an adult. The Adventure Zone also requires adult supervision unless a child is taking part in a staff-led activity. The club's creative sessions include seashell collages and nature-inspired paintings, drawing on the coast and gardens around it.

The drive from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport covers about 18 kilometers; allow roughly 40 minutes, depending on traffic. The concierge can arrange airport transportation and car services for journeys along the coast. Nice and Monaco are separate outings from this peninsula address. Close to the hotel, the Promenade du Cap follows the Mediterranean cliffs, keeping a coastal walk within reach of the grounds.

Why we love this hotel

Why we love this hotel

The mocktail workshop lets children create their own alcohol-free drinks with a bartender, with adult accompaniment required for those under eight.

A glass funicular connects the hotel to seasonal Club Dauphin, letting you reach the pool without making the descent on foot.

Club Dauphin's seasonal pool is filled with seawater, letting you enjoy saltwater swimming without heading out into the open Mediterranean Sea.
