Best for

Choose Hamilton Princess for a harbor stay with beach days by shuttle, rather than expecting the Beach Club directly outside your room.

What makes it special

Try the interactive Princessbright installation, turning its colored light dials to make your own patterns instead of only looking at the art.

Room to consider

Choose a Signature Room with Balcony for outdoor seating, rather than the Juliet balcony offered by the Fairmont Luxury Room category.

Insider tip

Ask about the paid connecting-room guarantee when booking, so rooms together are confirmed rather than left as a general accommodation request.

Hamilton Princess Bermuda

Hamilton Princess Bermuda, known as the Pink Palace, has welcomed guests since 1885 above Hamilton Harbour. Its historic main building connects with public spaces filled with contemporary art and a working marina along the waterfront. Mark Twain was a regular guest, spending time on the veranda; during World War II, the hotel served as an intelligence and censorship center. That history remains part of the identity of Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, a Fairmont-managed hotel with a distinctly urban Bermuda address.

The hotel has 380 rooms and suites. Fairmont Rooms in the main building measure 350 square feet, with a king or two doubles and bathrooms with tubs. Signature Rooms with Balcony have 375 square feet and furnished outdoor space overlooking Hamilton Harbour and the marina. In the Poinciana Wing, 325-square-foot Deluxe Rooms face the gardens from private terraces. Fairmont Luxury Rooms in the Bermudiana Wing have Juliet balconies facing Pitts Bay, a different arrangement from a terrace with lounge furniture.

For separate living space, the One Bedroom Harbour View Suite has 600 square feet, a sofa bed, a workspace, and a balcony furnished for dining and lounging. Its marble bathroom contains a rainfall shower and soaking tub. The similarly sized One Bedroom Garden View Suite is on the ground floor, with a private terrace and direct access to the infinity-pool area. Fairmont Gold rooms and suites are also part of the accommodation collection. Views and outdoor layouts vary across the wings, rather than following a single room plan.

The collection gives a walk through the hotel a purpose beyond reaching a restaurant or room. Warhol, Magritte, Banksy, and Matisse are among the artists represented, alongside contemporary sculpture and work by Bermudian artists. The selection includes editions and prints as well as sculptural pieces. Magritte's Le Beau Monde appears as a lithograph, while KAWS' At This Time belongs to the artist's Companion series and is made in wood.

There is an interactive side, too: Hero Design's Princessbright uses adjustable colored lights, inviting visitors to change the image themselves. Private docent tours can be arranged for a closer introduction to the collection. A self-guided tour is also available through the concierge, allowing guests to explore the works at their own pace.

The hotel's waterfront is a harbor, not a beach. Beach time centers on the Princess Beach Club on the south shore, around a 20-minute drive away by hotel jitney. The club occupies Sinky Bay, with beach loungers, umbrellas, changing facilities, showers, and lockers. Hammocks hang over land and water, and kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling equipment add ways to explore the cove when conditions allow.

Tennis and pickleball courts are also at the Beach Club, along with a children's playground. Summer brings beach cabanas and lunch service, while the jitney follows a published seasonal timetable.

Back at the hotel, the infinity pool looks directly over Hamilton Harbour. Cabanas beside it can be reserved, including larger arrangements for families and smaller ones for couples. The Pool Bar serves drinks and light meals, keeping lunch close to the water. A second pool adjoins the spa, with a poolside yoga pavilion. These two swimming areas sit at the main hotel, separate from the Beach Club's sea access, so a swim need not involve taking the jitney.

Driftwood is the hotel's spa, with nine treatment rooms and a lounge overlooking the harbor. Its menu includes massage, facials, and manicures, alongside Pilates and barre classes. The fitness facilities extend across two stories, with a harbor-facing studio and spaces for both individual training and scheduled classes. Treatments and classes are arranged separately from a room reservation.

The seasonal Prince & Princess Kid's Club runs supervised activities for ages five to 12 in the Kid's Cottage. Themes draw on Bermudian culture and experiential learning, with activities adapted to different ages. Children four and younger can join selected activities with a parent present. Places are limited, and advance registration is recommended for this scheduled program.

Intrepid Steak, Seafood & Raw Bar occupies the Gazebo Wing, pairing an Art Deco-inspired interior with broad harbor views. The dinner restaurant takes its direction from the American grill, with steaks, seafood, a raw bar, and a temaki sushi station. Contemporary art is integral to the room, including KAWS' The Great Below above the private dining room. The restaurant's name recalls the intelligence operative Sir William Stephenson, whose wartime work is tied to the hotel's history.

Crown & Anchor is the all-day gathering place, with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea, as well as a bar and terrace. Its rum selection and live entertainment give evenings a different character from the breakfast room. A children's menu is available, and the kitchen also prepares a late-night menu. Guests can settle indoors or on the terrace, with the menu changing through the day.

Seasonal 16O9 Bar & Restaurant takes dining into the open air above the harbor. Local fish and island-to-Latin flavors shape the menu, with cocktails and a separate children's selection. The name refers to the Sea Venture shipwreck in 1609, an important event in Bermuda's settlement history. Marina Bar adds another waterside setting in this part of the hotel, with the boats and harbor forming the backdrop.

The Duchess Café & Gelateria handles lighter meals and takeaway stops, with coffee, pastries, breakfast, lunch, and house-made gelato. It is named for Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, and has modern art among its retro-style seating. Picnic lunches for the Beach Club can be ordered in advance and collected here before boarding the jitney. That arrangement connects the hotel kitchen with a day on the south shore without requiring a return to Hamilton for lunch.

The Princess Marina has 60 berths and serves both smaller pleasure craft and larger visiting yachts. A marina concierge and dockmaster oversee boating arrangements, with facilities for water, electricity, and pump-out services. Boat charters and fishing trips can be arranged from the marina's watersports facility; activities operate seasonally. For guests arriving by sea, the marina makes the hotel a place to berth as well as stay.

The address is 76 Pitts Bay Road, within a short walk of downtown Hamilton's shops and restaurants. L.F. Wade International Airport is roughly a 30-minute drive away, depending on traffic. Taxis and prearranged airport shuttles handle the arrival, while buses and ferries provide ways to explore the island.

Why we love this hotel

Why we love this hotel

Picnic To Go lunches can be collected from The Duchess for the beach shuttle, with orders placed at least two hours ahead.

The hotel's mapped jogging routes include short out-and-back runs and a longer loop, helping you choose a route that fits your preferred distance.

Guests docking at the Princess Marina can order room service to their berth, bringing hotel dining aboard without leaving their boat.
