Join us as we take a closer look at this unique property.

We'll explore everything from its rich history and architecture to its lush gardens and amenities.

Overview

The resort opened in March 2018. It is a luxurious retreat near the UNESCO World Heritage Site Luang Prabang. This resort was designed to reflect the culture, history, and romantic spirit of Indochina in its past. Visitors to the resort can explore natural waterfalls and rivers and experience local village life.

Bill Bensley is a world-renowned architect. He designed the resort in the style of a former expatriate home. Each detail reflects a unique character and the romance of that golden age.

Rosewood Luang Prabang Resort also offers a wide range of activities and relaxation. You can enjoy a romantic dinner with your loved one by the resort's waterfall. Besides, you can discover the surrounding area with ease using the city bikes provided.

Experience authentic Laos experiences curated by the A Sense of Place theme. Local excursions will help you discover Laos's heart and soul and the fascinating stories behind it.

Location

The resort has much to offer yet is small enough for easy navigation. Rosewood Resort is situated on the outer edge of the city. The exact address is Ban Nadueay Village, Luang Prabang 06000 Laos.

It is in a beautiful valley that has a flowing milky river. It's hard to believe that the property is only a 10-minute drive from the historic part of the city. Moreover, a 25-minute drive will take you to the airport.

Style and Character

Rosewood is a resort that feels more like an old European hill station. Its whitewashed façade and rooms are spread out on both sides of the river. Here, you can live your fantasies as you wake up to tropical bird calls and follow neon-bright butterfly lines to breakfast.

Service and Facilities

The garden has an oval swimming pool. Upstream, there's a spa with three treatment rooms, each with glass-paneled floors. This allows you to gaze out at the river and be massaged while enjoying the view.

Rosewood offers a limited range of facilities. However, it makes up for them with magical and highly personalized experiences. These include visits to elephant sanctuaries and meditation with monks wearing saffron robes.

Guests can also take morning swims at secret waterfalls. Elias Pertoft was keen to give locals the opportunity they deserve. The members of staff are also friendly and are eager to serve.

Story

Rena Udomkunnatum, a Thai-born owner, fell in love with this wild enclave near Luang Prabang, where her sister runs a small resort. Rosewood CEO Sonia Cheng and Rena forged a bond and chose Bangkok architect Bill Bensley. Bill Bensley is known for creating quirky tent camps throughout the region. Bill has a narrative that runs through the whole resort. The result is charming.

Rooms

This resort has 23 large guest rooms and luxurious tented Villas. These include 4 deluxe rooms and four suites. It also offers 3 riverside villas as well as 6 pool villas. Moreover, each has a riverside border. The villas are luxurious and 75 square meters in size. They also have private dining rooms and a wrap-around terrace. The design is a delicate blend of French colonial and Lao traditions. It also uses local materials and inspired artwork.

Dining

For breakfast, the restaurant offers homemade fruit yogurts with croissants and cheesy en cocotte eggs. The chef then takes guests on a mouth-watering journey of Royal Laos food. These dishes combine local ingredients to create dishes such as river fish served with eggplants and duck meat with a fresh herb salad. You can also visit the Elephant Bar after dinner to get vintage negronis.

The Great House

This relaxed, colonially influenced restaurant features the best of local Laotian cuisine. Laotian farm-to-table dining emphasizes seasonal and local foods. They allow the restaurant to develop its regional identity.

Elephant Bridge Bar

Elephant Bridge Bar offers classic cocktails. You can also try a drink with a unique twist made from local herbs and spices grown in the resort's organic garden.

Spa and Wellness

Sense, a Rosewood Spa, overlooks fresh flowing streams in the valley. It embodies Laos, where you will connect with the earth's elements and natural healing. The spa uses botanicals harvested locally. It also offers Laotian treatments that cleanse, replenish, and balance your body, mind, and soul.

Also, many signature rituals and services use fresh, organic ingredients. They come from the mountains and valleys. You can also enjoy the tranquility of streams and lush vegetation while enjoying a mountain view. Also, Laotian herbal medicines have been used for centuries. They harness the natural healing power of plants.

Area

Several colonial-style hotels are near the town center. This resort is also near the Indochine-era hospital, restored by Adrian Zecha in 2009. Guests can also visit local shops and wats, like Anakha Lifestyle, for unique local products. These include buffalo-horn jewelry boxes, hair clips, and chokers.

Asiama is another gallery. It offers a complete collection of Lao textiles and history. Moreover, Pha Tad Ke Botanic Garden provides a stroll beneath the bamboo sprigs. You can also travel by boat past electric green rice fields along the river.

Family Friendly

This romantic resort caters to adults mostly. However, children can stay in adjoining rooms.
