Hotel Amigo Brussels

Grand-Place is around the corner from Hotel Amigo in Brussels, with Manneken Pis in the surrounding old town. The Rocco Forte address on Rue de l'Amigo puts the historic center at the door: the square, its surrounding streets and the shops and restaurants of the Îlot Sacré. The Sablon antiques district extends the possibilities beyond the immediate neighborhood. This central position gives a stay a strong pedestrian focus, with the hotel close enough for a return between visits rather than a separate journey across the city.

The hotel has 143 rooms and 28 suites, furnished with a substantial collection of Belgian art. Original René Magritte lithographs sit alongside prints of Hergé's Tintin, while pieces by Goossens and Broodthaers add to the local character. The references range from fine art to comic-book illustration, keeping the setting distinctly Brussels. There is humor in the choice of imagery as well as an interest in collecting; the art forms part of the spaces in which guests sleep, meet and dine.

Classic rooms average 28 square meters and face the courtyard. Deluxe rooms measure 32 square meters with street views, while Superior Deluxe rooms average 36 square meters and look toward the courtyard or city. All three categories accommodate two guests, with king beds that can be arranged as twins. The 65-square-meter Classic Suite adds a separate living room.

The Family Room combines two connecting Classic rooms across 56 square meters for four guests. For six, the Three Bedroom Family Junior Suite joins a suite and two Superior Deluxe rooms through a private corridor, with 112 square meters overall. The arrangement provides distinct bedrooms within one connected group.

The Grand-Place Suite measures 110 square meters, with separate living and dining spaces and two bathrooms. The top-floor Blaton Suite has 180 square meters inside and a 60-square-meter private terrace above the square. A connecting Deluxe room can extend its accommodation. Tintin and Diane von Furstenberg suites bring Belgian illustration and fashion into the room collection.

The Grand-Place and Blaton suites reflect design led by Olga Polizzi and Lucy Savanis, working with DO Design Studio. In the Grand-Place suites, linen wall coverings, Belgian timber floors and wool, cotton and velvet give the interiors their texture. References to Victor Horta appear in organic forms, while locally made furniture and objects from Belgian antique dealers connect the rooms to the city's design traditions. Large windows keep the architecture of the square in view.

The Blaton Suite takes a richer direction, with jewel colors, velvet and sculptural lighting. Belgian studio Le Château de Verre made the stained-glass panels between its bedroom and bathroom, using textured glass in ochre, yellow, green and aqua. Its bathroom includes a freestanding bathtub, double vanity, walk-in shower and private steam room.

Bocconi's Italian cooking follows the culinary direction of Fulvio Pierangelini, with an emphasis on straightforward preparations and seasonal ingredients from local suppliers. The kitchen team draws on several regions of Italy, so the menu's identity goes beyond one regional tradition. Homemade pasta and familiar Italian dishes anchor the restaurant.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a Milan-inspired terrace adding an outdoor setting for aperitivo and a meal. Its approach gives Amigo a clear Italian dining identity within the Belgian capital. The indoor restaurant and terrace are different settings for the same kitchen, rather than separate restaurants.

Bar Magritte develops the hotel's interest in Belgian surrealism into a place for cocktails, food and live music. Salvatore Calabrese's cocktail concept draws both on Magritte's paintings and on classic drinks associated with the artist's lifetime. The connection is therefore in the drinks as well as the name, with art providing the starting point for the bar's character.

Adam Ellis's mural-like wallpaper draws on Magritte's painting Femmes. Green velvet banquettes, colorful chairs and Art Deco-inspired stained glass carry the visual theme around the room, with a long central bar providing a gathering point.

Chess and candlelit tables give the room a sociable, unhurried atmosphere, and Belgian dishes form part of its food menu. Le Joueur Gourmand interprets afternoon tea through Magritte's fascination with chess and visual surprises. Live jazz on selected evenings and later drinks extend the bar's use beyond an aperitif before dinner.

Rocco Forte Kids brings practical support to a family stay, including cribs and baby bed linen, with bottle warmers, sterilizers and highchairs available on request. Child-size robes and slippers, books and coloring materials add details suited to younger guests. Bocconi has a children's menu, and the concierge can help organize age-appropriate city activities for children and teenagers.

The family's itinerary can include the Atomium, Mini-Europe or Train World, all among the hotel's suggestions for outings. These are excursions beyond the hotel, distinct from its in-room family services. Extra beds and connecting arrangements need to match the booked category and remain subject to availability.

The fitness center supports both cardiovascular and resistance exercise, with Technogym equipment and free weights. It opens throughout the week. For exercise outdoors, the concierge can arrange individual or group running tours that combine a workout with the city's landmarks.

Routes range from a short circuit through Grand-Place, Brussels Park and Notre-Dame du Sablon to longer runs through the European Quarter and other districts. The choice of route changes both the distance and the parts of Brussels encountered along the way.

Four meeting rooms serve smaller gatherings, while the Ambassador ballroom has its own private entrance leading to the marble Rotunda. This gives a larger reception or celebration a dedicated arrival space, separate from the layout of an ordinary meeting room. The events team coordinates the arrangements for business meetings, private parties and weddings. The Brel room seats up to eight, giving smaller discussions their own setting. Hergé accommodates up to 20, while Horta provides space for up to 60, depending on the event arrangement.

The hotel arranges airport and station transfers, with valet parking for guests arriving by car. Brussels Airport and Brussels-Midi station provide air and international rail connections. Road journey times depend on traffic. Once settled, 24-hour in-room dining, laundry and packing assistance support stays that extend beyond a short city visit.
