Andaz London Liverpool Street

The Andaz London Liverpool Street is one of Victorian London's original excellent railway terminus stations. This stunning red brick building with heritage status opened as the Great Eastern in 1884. They revamped it lately to include modern amenities and updated chic styling. The Andaz London Liverpool Street is part of the Hyatt brand of global luxury accommodations.

Location

The luxury hotel is conveniently located in the heart of east London. However, it is still accessible to many famous sights plus the theatres and high-life of the West End. Liverpool Street is also a lively area within walking distance of historic and vibrant Shoreditch. It is awash with snazzy restaurants, artisan cafes, bars and shops, and extravagant graffiti.

Moreover, this area is fashionable. It is also close to old London markets like Spitalfields, Borough, and the curry-lined market in Brick Lane. Newer additions to visit are the Italian food emporium of Eataly and the Van Gogh Immersive Experience. The iconic Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, The Mall, St Paul's Cathedral, and the Barbican Performing Arts Centre are easily reachable.

The dramatic Shard building represents modern London. Liverpool Street mainline rail and underground (tube station) Liverpool Street station is moments from the hotel. There are also direct links to London Heathrow Airport (LHR). Taxis and buses are also plentiful in the capital.

Style and Hospitality

This was always a grand hotel but is today a 5-star property blending contemporary styling with rich historical references. The handsome exterior is classic Victorian. Moreover, the interiors are modern with character elements like a typical London pub.

There are also two Egyptian Masonic Temples, somewhat eccentric décor, and art pieces. The style is undoubtedly original and fascinating. Preserved features include the ornate ballroom glass dome (a survivor of the World War 2 bombing), marble staircase, mosaic tiling, and corniced ceilings. Even some old rail tracks have found a place in the modern hotel.

The staff are also different and encouraged to express their styles while retaining high service standards. Besides, guests get a personalized welcome, a glass of Prosecco, and reams of helpful information.

Features and Amenities

One of the Masonic Temples houses the Health Club with a 24-hour state-of-the-art gym plus a steam room. Massages and spa treatments are given in-room. There is also a lively lounge, lobby area, and artist's salons with various pop-up events. There is also yoga and complimentary snacks/beverages most of the day.

Additionally, there are several choices for diners. Something for every taste, from bistro menus, British favorites, and Mediterranean classics to a classy Japanese restaurant and much in-between. The hotel is also child-friendly, pet-friendly, and accessible throughout.

Rooms

There are 267 spacious rooms and suites at the excellent Andaz London hotel, all recently refurbished. They include modern amenities/technologies plus nods to the hotel's historic past. City-suit pinstripe rugs and drapes in grey/white/black are enlivened by splashes of vibrant magenta and tangerine color. Moreover, artwork and murals from young artists add more interest. Finely stitched bed valances and headboards reference the sartorial history of the area.

The beds are large and comfortable. Plus, spacious white bathrooms have subway-tile walls, expansive mirrors, and tubs (some rooms). There are also showers, gorgeous Yukata robes, and REN luxury toiletries. Amenities include Wi-Fi, giant TVs, Nespresso coffee machines, and tea-making equipment. There are also minibars with complimentary soft drinks and high-tech lighting systems.

The King room also offers creative spaces where the traditional City of London blends with the young artistic vibe of the new style of the capital.

Suites

These are spacious, with big soft sofas, dining areas, and separate bedrooms. Suite 104 was designed by Sir Terence Conran. It features a Savoir bed, Eames and Karusselli chairs, and Conran's coffee table replica. Besides, natural light floods in from several expansive windows.

The large premium suites have beautiful wooden floors, king beds, a spacious lounge, and working areas. The rooms also nod to the East End location and local history.

Restaurants and Bars

The 1901 Restaurant and Wine Lounge starts the day with a buffet of British and Continental breakfast dishes. Afternoon teas are also available here, and a wine menu. There are stories to be discovered by guests at Lady Abercorn's Pub Kitchen, a landlady of local reputation, and a British-style pub. Locally brewed beers and 'pub-grub are available here too.

The Eastway Brasserie is an all-day diner to suit all dining tastes. It offers classic favorites like burgers and grills and a selection of salads. A vegetarian and healthy choice menu and a Saturday sharing brunch from 12 pm to 4 pm. Miyoko serves reinvented classic Japanese menus. It is under the creative head chef Kosei Sakamoto. In-room dining is also available.

Rake's Cafe Bar is an original concept of a café by day and a bar in the evening. This is an attractive popular place to escape the hubbub of the city. However, the laid-back atmosphere doesn't detract from the quality of good comfort food, great coffee, and cocktails in the evening. Staff and guests can also express their personalities here in this welcoming space.

Fitness

The Health Club has a spacious gym in the basement with Peloton bikes, weights, bench press, and squat rack. There are also showers, lockers, and a steam room.

Event Space

The Andaz London Liverpool Street also specializes in events. It offers unique and chic spaces blending the classic style of the old building and the convenience of modern amenities. Guests can arrange conferences, business and private meetings, celebrations, and weddings. There are also first-class planners and caterers to assist. Every type of room, from small intimate spaces to the grand marbled ballroom with ornate features and beautiful colors, enhances each event.

Children

Families with young children can book additional rooms and beds. There is also a babysitting service by arrangement.

Takeaway

The Andaz London Liverpool Street is part of London history itself from the heyday of the Victorian railway development and the grand railway hotels to accommodate passengers. It is also well situated in central London - to walk just out into old and new London. Moreover, the old markets and famous stores nudge each other with centuries of architectural gems and historic buildings. Modern tower blocks stand out above the River Thames, all within easy reach from this fine London hotel.
